Good morning M-Web Guy!
I need advise please. I currently stay with parents, who has a pay you go telkom line. I need to apply by mweb for adsl 1 meg line please and uncapped account. My q is this..........
1)Can I apply online by mweb for my 1 meg line, and they will sort out the pay as you go thing.
2) Can I download huge files per day like demos drivers etc......
3) How long can this process take also?

1. I dont think you can get ADSL on a Pay As You Go Telkom line, you need to convert it to a normal phone line and I think you'll have to sort that out with Telkom.

Then you can ask MWeb to get the ADSL ready for you, but I strongly suggest you get the ADSL line (not the data account) through Telkom because it's much easier to follow up on the progress of the ADSL installation and if you one-day decide to leave MWeb it will be a nightmare to get your ADSL line back to Telkom.

2. Yes, you can download huge files every day, I have a friend who has 1meg uncapped and downloaded 120GB last month.

3. When I got my line I only waited about 2 weeks for it to be activated, but it can take a long time depending on the availability of open ports at the exchange.

I am on a 1meg uncapped and my usage has been:
Dec 2011 - 154GB
Jan 2012 - 126GB
Feb 2012 -91.94 GB so far this month

Good Morning to you too Lionking,

You'll need to convert the line from pay as you go to a normal voice line and then from there, you can make contact with me and I'll arrange for a sales consultant to contact you and explain in detail the ADSL application process.

Dear MWEB dude

I send in a all the paper work to upgrade my 1mb mweb uncap to 4mb uncap
They a few weeks later got a reply from mweb that telkom are unable to upgrade due to fiber restriction.
few days later Telkom call me that they will upgrade me to 4mb if i bring my adsl back to them.

Wazup with that?

you can pm then i send you my mweb account number and line number

NathanCrow, that sounds deadly suspicious and uncompetitve. Better save that call/email/whatever. That shouldn't be allowed under the CPA.

Got a call from Mweb this morning they confronted Telkom and some how they can give me 4mb line NOW! LOL

I can't refrain from asking this though, how the hell did telkom do that????

Good day

MWEB works with a system called Uniweb which is a Telkom system, and that will guide us to what speed we can upgrade the clients according to there ADSL number

On Uniweb it showed us that Mr Crowster can only get a 1024k speed according to your ADSL Telephone number

The only reason we could upgrade you to the 4096k is because your area could support it but not your ADSL home line if you understand what I mean

So what we did was we explained the situation to Telkom and Telkom changed some settings on your line in order to get that speed

It just shows if you really want something be done you need to put pressure on those above

One word of advice, stay away from having your line hosted by an isp. It is not fun having to move your line and account should things not work out.
 
Hi im new to mweb just signed up on Friday can anyone tell me how long am im going to wait for mweb to make it a adsl line and activate my Internet

Good Day StayAlive, that would depend on Telkom.

It could take up to 15 working days, hopefully it happens sooner.
