New ADSL Telkom questions

Yo Dudes

Ordered my Adsl line today but what an experience,, The guy on the other end wanted to know The size of my hardrive, ram, do I have a cd rom
I cant imagine why, he couldnt tell me and i was very annoyed
Anyone know about this
 
You should have asked him the same questions. Atleast you will know each others hardware better ;-)
 
they have a util that they punch all of ur computer details into so that they can determine if adsl will work on ur pc. As with anything these days, u need a minimum spec pc for it to work :)
 
They know your address already and telephone number, so what they do is they call your number to see if you're at home, if theres no answer they break into your house and steal your l33t rig and sell it off to pay for various things they cant afford cos their ADSL is so expensive even with a staff discount.

Just kidding.. :)
 
when I called I told them I have an AMD XP, she said sorry, Intel what? .. so I told her a Celeron 2.4
 
same here... they didn't know about AMD. eventually just told them that they should just install the line and let me worry about setting up the PC / modem.
 
Me told them I had an 8 GHz Intel P6 with one terabyte of memoree running Windows 95.
They said that ADSL will not work on Windows 95.
I said yup, it will.
They said, no it won't.
I said ...
 
LOL.........Telkom, Telkom.......I almost love them because of their incompetence and stupidity, it's like a Bulldog.........it's beautiful of uglyness!
 
Don't make life difficult for yourself - it is ethical to lie to Telkom if they want irrelevant info.

Telkom blackmails one to allow them to invade your privacy if you want ADSL.

So, I've learnt to lie - a P3 1 GHz with Windows XP and 256 MB Ram does the job they want.

This not much a rig in their DB (they store this info), so I doubt if I will have a visit from unwanteds having friends within Telkom.

I'm sorry, but I will never reveal such info to the true to anybody unless they have good reason to know.

They didn't wanted to know the color of your underwear and the length of your little friend??? That's strange....*rofl*
 
I said an Amiga 3000 with AmigaOS 3.1 and Workbench 1.2 :D.

I can understand they want that sort of info so that the techie can load their RASPPPoE ****e on your PC but I politely declined the offer and used the Telkom CD as a coaster for my coffee cup.
 
Well now we know what we get for our money with telkom,,,free entertainment
When he said he recomends a contract i said, no! " would you sign a deal with the devil" there was no reply. I wonder what they talk about in there lunch breaks
