New Adsl Urgent Help Needed

I everyone!

I just got a new telkom adsl line..

1. Bought a Telkom 5102G router.
2. Can browse telkom.co.za using default password.
3. Cant browse with my ISP webafrica user name..even though they say I have authenticated and showing online.
4. When all of the above was happening i had solid DSL light n PPP.

NOW i dont have any DSL light on doesnt even flash when i restart/reset the router...what could be wrong....EVERYTHING is going wrong...PLEASE HELP SOMEONE....Telkom tech support phoned 5 difff guys....gave 5 diff answers....

HELP!!!
 
Have you verified the line via telkoms site?

I set my folks line and router up last night...I could log on with the ISP account and was getting an IP but couldn't browse.

You MUST verify the account via telkoms site AND do so with the default telkom account details...I think it's www.telkom.co.za/verfiyadsl.htm

Give it 30 mins, insert your ISP login credentials and Bob's your uncle...Hope you come right...

Oh...and another thing...make sure you haven't plugged the POTs filter into the router.
 
hi thanks for replying but i tried verifying it took forver and eventually said your has benn processed....my problem is dat now my dsl light doesnt come on at all....let alone flash even after rebooot....what do u tink???? it went off wile i was on the phone wit the telkom guy....is it supposed to ALWAYS come on and flash regardless of wether there is sync or not??? Thanks in advance!
 
Have you tried the following ? :
Username: guest1@telkomadsl
Password: guest1
 
Also turn the power off to your router for about 5min.
Was your ADSL line a Self Install?
 
yes it was a self install... I NEED THE FOLLOWING ANSWERED PLEASE!!!

1. WHy isnt the router even trying to fidn the sync after powering back on??? that is....why doesnt the DSL flash at all like it did yesterday when i first connected it????? Is it suppose to flash even if u connected it to a non-ADSL line??? Could sumting removed from the exchange after my call to telkom cause the light not to come on at all??? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
 
I had a similar problem, except that it was only my PPPLink LED not flashing.

For the first two days, I could access the telkom.co.za site. After I called Telkom to confirm switching to the Closer 4 Plan. BAM! Good bye any connection.

After calling Telkom ADSL support a number of times and them making me doing a bunch of monkey stuff which eventually led the support person to realise that I did not screw up in anyway while plugging network cables in that it "may be a fault in the line".

I phoned again the next day and told them they were wasting my money as I'd already signed up for an ISP account. This seemed to prompt them into calling me very often just to see if my problem had not disappeared somehow.

On a third attempt, the support person suggested that I swap my brand new router as it may be faulty. <= possible solution? Tell them your LEDs are not lighting up seems to trigger the swap option.

I was going to do it too but I decided to check my connection one last try.

Funny enough, it worked. All of a sudden. This after two days. I phoned Telkom to inform them that I no longer needed their "assistance". The support person was just as surprised as I was that the problem had gone away on its own. Just to prove that they didn't realise it, someone called me later that evening to see if my problem wasn't fixed.
 
yes it was a self install...

This might be a stupid question but have Telkom taken you off the Self Install after the line started to work?
Or did they turn it back on again after your last phone call to them?
