Hi guys

So i signed up with TI 2mp uncapped but as everyone know, TI is having issues for some time now i haven't had decent speeds since I signed up. I can't watch a simple youtube vid without extreme buffering. I also signed up for netflix and unotelly trail which will expire soon.

I want to test these services on a normal line to determine if it's worth it for me.

how can i get a test account from a different ISP to test? Luckily i'm on a month to month with TI so i should not have any issues leaving them. Which ISP will be best for streaming services and minimal downloading.

Thanks

Based on your Afrihost experience, you can determine if it's Telkom ISP or your line that's the problem.

Why? We all know it's Telkom.
No one is debating this.
This does not mean Telkom is not worth using.
They issues will be resolved and it will be back to it's solid state asap.

So after switching to afrihost 1gb account last night to test, i got very bad speeds, so i contacted them to check and make sure everything was ok,
Most of the time i was syncing below 1MB, the best i got was 1.4MB down. The afrihost dude made me do a speed test on telkom guest account and was syncing above 1,5mb. ( on my telkom account i sync at 1.7mb) these are all local btw.

He continued to say their network is busy and i should keep on trying to see if it will get better.

This morning i did a speed test via wifi and it was fast, played a youtube vid and it played without buffering, second clip started to bufffer,

I there something else that could be the cause here, maybe my line quality? my line statistics are are in good levels.

Also am i being too optimistic here? should i be able to watch a youtube vid, netflix movie without any buffering on a 2mb uncapped account.

mail this morning from afrihost

With regards to your email, I am currently picking up that your line is Intermittent- your account is authenticating well and connecting. Please send us speed tests.

I had a similar problem with my ADSL. It would drop to 20% line speed between 6pm-11pm daily and on weekends most of the time. I contacted the Telkom rep on MyBB with my problem and phone number attached. He ascertained that my exchange is congested and he advised Telkom to upgrade my port at the exchange or move me to another exchange.

A Telkom technician contacted me about the fault that the MyBB rep logged but he was telling me that all is fine at the exchange but when I told him it's congested he asked how do I know this and he frantically went to the exchange and upgraded my port.
