I will be finally getting my ADSL service installed this week and need some hardware advice. As I have signed the 24 month contract ( pse no abuse) I get the modem thrown in as well. I would like to install a wireless router as well. Should I ditch the 'free' modem and consider a ADSL modem/wireless router combination or just get a wireless router? I am concerned that having the 'free' modem together with a separate wireless router may be a nightmare to set up.

I would appreciate any recommendations regarding which hardware to buy as well.

Thanks

I woudldn't go for the bundled Telkom router - rather look at something like the Netgear DG834GTR, it's a wireless adsl router with 4 port switch as well. I've set -up a few of these without any hassles. You could also opt to go for something like a Netgear DM632 modem/router and a seperate wireless access point, depending on your needs.

Integrated is better in this case. If not, try using a single brand.

Not always applicable, but in this case it makes a difference.

Cheers
Antowan
