I'm concidering ADSL. Easy question. Should I go for it? Is it really worth all the hassles ppl seem to go through. Are the ppl complaining just unlucky?

I live in Pta-East, are the service levels better here, than somewhere else?

What am I getting myself in for?

I can never go back to dial-up or even ISDN - I'm addicted to speed. I'm sure many others feel the same way despite some of the hassles (which often have workarounds)

I bet it's because u raped the varsity's 10mb line at the time (I still can't figure out who u r) :p

anyways ADSL is definitely worth it though we pay a premium. Telkom service does suck but I've had good experiences before. Be prepared to wait for the instillation date though...had friends wait for months just to get it. Once you on ADSL, I doubt u'll turn back esp with the Closer packages.

I have to agree with this. I had dial up for a very long time and was used to the speed back then, but no more. There is no way I will ever go back. I think many people feel this way and that's why Telkom can still offer adsl and why they still have users using this service.

One thing to remember is that you must only cancel your dial up or what ever internet you're using right now after you have gotten and are using your adsl. Never ever trust what Telkom says with regards to when you will get your adsl. Also expect to wait for a very long time to get it installed. That way, if you're lucky enough to get it done quickly you will be pleasantly surprised!

To be fair everybody raped that line :D Especially at night when it would fly at close to 1MByte/s

Well, my line went down on the 19th of December and they only fixed it today.

But when it's working, it works better than any other internet in the country.
