We’re pleased to announce the addition of the latest AMD EPYC Genoa powered Supermicro Servers to our existing line up of configurable VPS servers.

Special shout out goes to SuperMicro South Africa, Boston South Africa and AMD for arranging and delivering this solution is record breaking time.

For those that enjoy seeing the tin that powers these solutions here are some pics, enjoy!

A quick update this morning, testing is underway for this new VPS Host and we're loving these 3.1 GHZ Genoa cpu's.

We're testing PHP performance with a entry level VPS server that has WordPress setup on in and I must say, very impressive.

We're looking for a few beta tests to run a VPS server through its paces for 1-2 weeks, if this is something you are interested in doing then kindly PM me.

Ideally looking for previous VPS Beta testers who provided valuable feedback and currently have or have had an account with us.

Below some screenshots of VPS Management features from the client service area along with suggested pricing and selection of OS's available - enjoy!

Impressive, it makes one giddy!

Is there a possibility for servers with Nvidia GPU?
Running inference models in cpu is slow and chews up cpu unnecessarily. And I've not found any such vps services that I can afford.

I spun up a Genoa server a few minutes ago. Are these not meant for production then, or are you referring to additional Genoa hardware up above?
Hello @Bryn - the Genoa VPS that you spun up is the same that we’ve been testing and now ready for prod. I decided to push them live before the press release to gauge how well they would sell in comparison to Milan.

Let me know your thoughts on the new Genoa VPS servers and thanks for the support as always.

I assisted SuperMicro a few weeks back with an installation of three GPU servers at ADC JHB2 as I was interested to understand the business model. This particular client integrates into a platform called runpod.io so you may want to take a look at their pricing. GPU compute is something we’re looking into but it’s mucho expensive and the lead time on those A100’s are around 13-15 months

So far it’s great! You’re in Africa Data Centre now right? Any issues since the move?

Also didn’t Nvidia just announce new hardware that changes the game? Like this week?

Yeah we completed the last part of the move +- 4 - 5 months ago and a move for the better.
The experience, service and facilities are amazing at ADC, and JHB2 is an impressive DC.

Edit : We got complacent and too comfortable at the previous provider and should have moved ages ago, but as they say - everything happens for a reason and we've learnt a lot, and met some awesome people along the way.

I wouldn't change anything that has happened and dont look back - ADC are phenomenal

No complaints mate, I only have good things to say about Africa Data Centres. Any one looking to get rackspace or move from their current DC provider should reach out and I'll gladly put you in touch with our AM.

Network performance has also been great (in my experience at least) with you guys now having NAP and JINX peering.

Also see you guys are using seacom for transit which has been working well even with the WACS cable break.

Glad to see that you're noticing the changes Jason and thanks for the feedback. Massive thanks to the team at ADC (Andre and many others) along with Nishal from JINX who came through to assist us with the setup of our peering on their network.

Free remote peering at ADC on JINX and NAPAfrica is a massive plus for all ADC clients it greatly improves latency for all clients.

We've only just turned on Seacom so well spotted there.
The team from Seacom have been phenomenal - very glad that we switched to them.

So far so good with the new VPS. My only complaint, and it's a minor one as it doesn't cause much inconvenience, is the network speed. I'm used to several gigabits per second, which is mostly great for quick backups. What is the speed on these?

Thanks for the feedback and glad to hear the performance of the vps is up to par. Network speeds for local will see you hit up to 194mbs subject to peering etc, and well international is a dog show at the moment.

If you’re seeing slow international speeds then please pm those remote ip’s along with a trace and I can take this up with Seacom

No worries. Just wondering what the speeds are supposed to be. My Backblaze account region is set to the US as most of my clients and servers are there.

We only use nvme drives, and these will either be Kioxia or Samsung enterprise drives depending on the host that you’re on
