New Apple MacBook Pro - Local pricing

iStore has released pricing for the new Apple MacBook Pro as part of a pre-order campaign.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro was launched by Apple earlier this month and features a range of hardware improvements compared to its predecessors.

The new laptops are powered by up to an Intel octa-core processor and 64GB of RAM. They also include a new keyboard design, a 16-inch Retina Display, and more powerful GPUs.

That's not bad, the baseline 16" is $2799 which is ~R41 200 so if you add VAT that's ~R47 300 and iStore here sells it for R44 000

It's easy to tell. If you find that Core is giving you a great deal, you know your maths is wrong.

They usually just use a crappy exchange rate you'd get on a credit card and add 15% vat and a bit for shipping so that its marginal importing your own.

Exactly. Apple hasn't increased the price for a much better product compared to the old model. Reflects locally.

Err.. why did you do that? The new MBP was anticipated for a while.

It would have been pretty disgraceful for iStore to arbitrarily increase the local price when the USD price went unchanged.

Didn't order through the iStore - ordered direct from Apple themselves, and when I ordered in July there was no 16" MBP.

Apple takes ages for custom orders. For me to get a 6 core 32GB laptop took almost 3 months.
