Hi there

Anyone know if this much awaited monitor is available in SA. If so who is stocking it and what price. Other alternative is VG278HE. Use primarily for gaming and some web browsing.

This monitor looks amazing! Only problem is that it's TN, but of course that is a necessary evil to get the response times... The overall lag on the IPS U2713HM's is pretty bad, I find myself playing much better in BF4 after using a TN panel again.
 
I phoned Asus in Joburg. Its going be available in a months time in SA offered by online stores. They did not reveal price though until launch date.
 
The guy from Asus marketing did not specify a date but said by end of August it will be available. He also said that Evetech will do an unboxing on youtube.

R15,201 - gosh that's quite a bit more than I was expecting.

Anybody know if you can daisy chain these monitors?

But seriously, buying an eyefinity setup at this price is not gonna happen anytime soon.

EDIT: Judging from other WQHD monitors that are also IPS with much better connectivity options (U2713HM at R7k cost, for example) and the overseas price of $799, I'd guess this should retail for R9-10k here. I understand the price might be high because it's a new product and limited stock, but 9k is my limit for this.

Way overpriced. Almost 2x the price in the US??? that cant be right. Cheapest in SA is about 1K lower than the price above. Ill wait untill price drops on more more g-sync monitors come out.

You can't, there's only a single Displayport 1.2 connection on the back.

It also bears reminding that ASUS blocks the Lightboost feature from being used for AMD GPUs. So this just becomes a really expensive, TN 144Hz monitor with regular backlight control on Radeon cards and either a GSync or a Lightboosted monitor for Geforce cards.

If using Radeon, you might as well just buy the VG278HE instead.

Yep, sucks don't it? I'm personally hoping that someone comes along and brings an affordable 4K monitor that also does 2560x1440 at 120Hz. Either that, or I win enough money for LG's 34UM95. I'd be happy with a 21:9 60Hz IPS monitor.

Sucks.

And I don't ever want a 27" FHD monitor, it's just too pixelated.
 
I so wanted this monitor. But I really for the life of my can't understand the pricing of Asus monitors locally. They are all almost 90%+ more expensive locally, while Dell monitors are only about 10% more expensive here. What a shame. Does anyone know the explanation for this?

I know that disappointing feeling, I just cant justify the 15k (the price of my rig). Ill wait and see if the price starts to drop.

Asus shame on you. Sheer rip-off

Dell has a home-grown sales channel here that also handles some distribution and sells monitors to businesses by the truckload. ASUS doesn't have that kind of pull locally for the monitor market. There are probably less than 100 ROG Swifts in SA at the moment.
 
That's still quite a bit of markup. Does anyone know when the AOC g2460Pg monitors will arrive? Dankje.
 
So has anyone got the Swift yet and if you do what is your opinion. Worth the hype or not?
 
I'd love this monitor.. but needs a serious price-drop :(
