So I just had my brakes done and I had new discs to install. The workshop manager told me that I should rather keep the new discs as the old ones were fine and "age" them by letting them rust and then cleaning with fine sandpaper, after which I should leave them in the box for a few months / year. This will "harden" them. :wtf:
To my mind this doesn't sound logical. Steel is hardened by a tempering process not letting it rust - ok the discs are cast but surely the same principal applies? Anyone with some knowledge care to enlighten me?!
