Hi Guys

Wanted some input and feedback, im starting a business and the first step for me is to register a company (from what I take it the pty/ltd is easiest and most common at the moment, cc cant be done and sole prop not what I want).

When looking at the process I got 2 options:
1) Via cipc directly which seems fairly easy. Registered there, just waiting to see how to load funds on to the account? Its the only tab I couldnt click. Am i missing something?

2) Via FNB CIPC option, will get a bank account plus the process sorted. Only problem is they ask for proof of operating address, how do i furnish this if my company does not yet even exist?

I wouldn't say the first step is to registera company, there is probably some work you can do to make sure the business is viable before you bother with that.

That being said though...

I got an accountant to register my Pty for me. I used my residential address since the work is mostly done in the field or in my home office. Haven't tried through the CIPC directly. PM me if you'd like his details, he prefers to work with small businesses in Cape Town area.

in terms of prep I have done my research roughly. Know the market and a lot of other things, but due to the nature of the work I need to first register a company before I can go through the next few steps of getting it operational.

Ive used the FNB service, It was pretty good as they will also open an account for you. If you buy a shelf company you have to do a name change to get the name you want. If you want to deal with bigger customers you would need to get VAT registered too.

Being trying to register using cipc and FNB but they are down at the moment. With Cipc i loaded the funds after registering as a customer on their website (they give you banking details and a ref name) still waiting for funds to reflect but the website is very slow. Seems like they are still busy. I am going to try FNB and will just be using my home address dont have a business address yet.

i had a very quick experience using the deposit method into their account via fnb. After that it was a breeze.
