Ok, got a budget of around R3.5-4K

Whats currently the best camera in that range?
and where to get it?

In Jhb, wanna get camera next wednesday.

Hi,

If you looking to spend that amount on a Camera, then best to go a DSLR and probably spend that much more.

Otherwise a cheaper, point and shoot camera may well do for around R 2000 - R 3000.

I've always had a Sony point and shoot which has serviced me well. Good screen quality, good feel in the hand and excellent battery life. My current camera is about 3 years old, taken in the region of 14000 pics and battery still lasts 3 hours or about 300 shots.

Nikon D40 - Price: R4,899.00

hmmm, a bit over my price range. What about the fixed lense type SLR's?
No such thing but I know what you're talking about. The advanced point and shoots are functional but every time I see one I cant help wonder why not get a real dSLR.

Then again there is something to be said about a decent point and shoot provided you take full advantage of its greatest asset (IMO) - portability.

I think in that price range you're pretty much limited to a Nikon D40 or Pentax K100D Super (if you can find stock). Either ways, decent cameras for the money.
