New car lives at workshop-Advice needed

I have been reading up on forums and seen that this is about the only forum where I can get sound advice about my new car purchase problems.
I bought a Geely LX Sept last year.It has been almost 4 months in total in the workshop with a gearbox problem and other problems too.
Finally they told us that the Geelys do have a 2nd gear grating problem and will be recalled once the gear manufacturer gets its ass into gear.
Questions: Do I as a consumer need to accept this and keep the car until it gets recalled?
Can I cancel my car payments and what are the consequenses?
What can I demand from the dealership?
They have admitted a problem but keep shoving new cars in our face with payments so exorbitant that we cannot accept then they tell us they made the best deal for us but we are full of nonsense by turning it down.

Please help with any advice that you can.I have had to take time out to read up about our rights etc and need further advice.

BTW, except for the gearbox issues, how does the car drive?
 
Im not sure I understand, are you having to pay for these repairs? And did the car come with a warranty?
 
You can't cancel payments, that's between you and the bank, not you and the car dealer.

Car is new..warranty 3 years..Oh yes and was bulldusted into thinking the chinese cars have improved so much..how wrong..Waiting for some advice about the process of what to do about the car..Not looking for advice about repairs,good or bad purchase,spare parts or comments about my choice.Thanks in advance.

You not really providing proper information.

So again, explain from the start. You bought the car brand new with warranty? And now the car is giving problems. SO why do you have to pay? or get a new car? with costs?
 
Never mind..Thanks anyway..You must learn to read..NEW CAR!!! Obviously it has a warranty I never said I had to pay for repairs.
If my questions are just answered it would be ok but I think I have landed in the wrong section here.lol..

I see that you are getting frustrated - you must forgive our chirps, as this is the one place where you would have been advised against buying the Geely in the first place.

Sadly, the deal is done and dusted, so you cannot simply stop paying. The dealer has already been paid by the bank, and the monetary contract is between you and the bank - stop paying and you will be in hot water.

You have probably tied yourself to this beast for 5 years, and once paid for it won't be worth much more than the petrol in the tank.

You have no recourse to anyone, as the dealer knows exactly what he is selling, and it is highly unlikely that he will feel sorry for you and take the scrap back.

Have you had a word with the finance company ?
and has any one admitted in writing or any thing that you can use as proof that there is a problem with the car ??
I am sure some one will help soon and not troll .

Alright, was honestly willing to help once you had explained all the proper facts, but clearly you not interested. So goodluck.
 
Thanks FNfal..yes I am off to speak to the finance company this afternoon.
If I can get proof that there is a problem with the gears then will definitely try get some proof as what was verbally said..There might be a way.
Another thing that might count in our favour is that they scratched and gouged the bonnet and front when taking out the gearbox, they sent it to be resprayed and they made a botched job of that too.I'm going to hammer on that as well.

When I take this to the ombudsman then I need a good leg to stand on.

If it makes you feel any better I had a colleague who purchased a new BMW coupe that spent the first four-plus months of it's life in the dealer's garage.

During this time the dealer replaced both the front and rear suspensions (more than once), the sunroof, the transmission and a few other bits ...

NB: He was always supplied with a loaner, but was unable to return the car ...
 
have you looked into the CPA and how it applies??
It has been more than six months, so may not get much joy from CPA.
Maybe check if there is an ombudsman for the industry or some other regulator.
Good luck, but I suspect you not going to get much joy as the CPA was probably your best bet to get some results or get out of the deal
