Hey guys/gals....

Need some advice urgently.

I'm in the process of purchasing a new vehicle and received the call this afternoon that I can sign the documents tomorrow morning.

I only want to collect it this coming Wednesday due to the fact that the Auto armour still needs to be installed and once done, the windows can not be used for 48 hours. Due to previous experience I prefer to test everything when collecting the vehicle.

Now the salesman says to me that when signing the doc's tomorrow they must then get my vehicle I am trading in. My dilemna is that I do not have any other transport should he take the vehicle tomorrow and I then can only collet the new vehicle on Wednesday. What can I do?

With that I also want to have the vehicle registered in the new year so if I do take the vehicle tomorrow or say Monday. Can I the register it myself on Wednesday when the Municipal offices have opened again?

Just me getting clued up about things.

All help greatly appreciated

tell the salesmen your problem. he can perhaps give you a lend car.
otherwise he must just wait.

I'd suspect they're trying to make target for the month. Tell them you'll take the car next week and sign the docs on the day of delivery. If they're unwilling, walk away. They're providing a service to you... why are you allowing yourself to be dictated to? Just be aware of any time limitations on the trade-in offer.

As far as registering the car yourself: not if you're financing the deal. The dealer has an obligation to the bank & insurer to see to registration.

Thanx so much for the advice guys. I was just complacent about the fact that he must have my car tomorrow. Ok so I'll let him know and he must decide whether he'll accomodate me then.

Thanx again guys

1) Want's to make target
2) Could have a buyer for your car

Either way you the customer either he does it your way or loans you a reasonable car.

Ai wat...

I am one to complain alot byt just not in the mood anymore. So ok I keep my vehicle till Monday when he'll collect it from me at work. On Wednesday he'll again send someone to collect me so that I can take delivery of the new vehicle then.

I enquired about a loan vehicle but was informed they'll fetch me rather. That's that though...

I'll sacrifice the 2 days without wheels for now seeing as we all just doing a job ne.

Thanx again for the help guys

Purely for interest's sake, what are you buying? Just so we can judge if your bending to the dealer's will can be justified? Or, alternatively, [-]so we can goad you mercilessly for[/-] save you from buying a ****box.

@HapticSimian...

I'm purchasing the VW Polo 1.4i C/line. It's one with a sunroof which I wanted and which no other branch had after checking during our drive from Uitenhage down home to Gordons Bay. If I wanted then I would've had to wait for one with a sunroof for about 3 months according to 3 of the dealers spoken to. Actually wanted one in white but getting it in silver now which ain't bad.

So it could be that I'm bending over for them, lol, but I guess myself and my wife are excited and don't wanna wait. Prices are also set to increase on 1 January 2013 which is also a factor in the deal having to happen before then.

Everything he said = thumbs up! You're the client so make him wait, don't rush into anything etc
