New Chassis/Scratch Build Recommendations

Haha, most cases you cant unscrew it. Would need to chop it up! Dremel ftw :D What model is it?

Its a no-name-brand, so not sure that you would want it! :p

I will take a picture and post it here when I get home, cool?

Sounds like a plan :) You will be remunerated with the role of your choice next mafia game :p Or cash, or booze, whichever you prefer :D

Ugh :(
So the place I was hoping to get square bar from doesnt actually stock it even though they list it on their site. And of the 3 other places I've now gone to for quotes, only 1 has replied. And instead of 12x12 bar, they have 12.7x12.7. Meaning some panels will now have a 0.7mm gap between them :/ And to add to that they sell the bar in 5m lengths (instead of 6m like everyone else) and I need 5.5m, so I have to buy two lenghts now.
/rant over

Lanboy air is a disaster imo. Will forever be cleaning it out unless you put 10+ fans on it in which case it'll be loud. Not sure of the water options for it though. Corsair 650D is no good for water, and prob quite expensive for a quality air cooled case (CM690 prob better cooling and cheaper)

Had a look at Haf X or Lian0Li cases?

Been keeping HAF-X in the back of my mind. Something about it just doesnt gel with me though. I know I would replace the side window at the very least. But even then, something is not right. In terms of what it can house with zero modding its a beast. Triple rad up top, with a 200x200 in front and you're set. Anyone have personal experience with it, what are the dust filters like?

Lian Li cases tend to get very tall very quickly, and even then still require some modding. And they are R3k to start with :/

HAF-X is super ugly though, one thing I do like about it is the duct that blows air over your GFX cards.

My only possible mention would be the Corsair Obsidian 800D with a top 480 radiator mod.

But it is also a bit of a large case and fairly expensive.

I actually worked out that to make the Corsair 800D be equivalent to this custom build it would cost R900 more! Otherwise it would have been my first choice (with a top triple rad, and a mod for a dual bottom rad)

Ok, a brief preview :D
3x140mm fans in front backed by a 140.3 radiator. Input will be filtered. Bottom left we have 5x5.25 bays, nottom one will be for a rubber insulated HDD, next 3 for DVD, USB and fan controller. Whats shown is actually wrong, lol. Top will be for a SSD, maybe even a HDD. Depends if I can make an interesting way to mount them since they'll likely be visible through the side window. Moving more right, another 140 intake and the the PSU. Then some random mobo, with a HD6950 (orange block) to check that there will be space for it

Question is, do I need that additional 140 fan? Obviously the air coming from the rad will be a few degrees warmer than ambient, but shouldnt be more than 5° above ambient most of the time which isnt half bad. Getting rid of the fan will let me make the case quite more compact. Currently its at 200(W) x 569(L) x 474 (H). Can get the length down by 50-70mm, and the height down by 20mm. And no, no space for a fan at the back - only 110mm wide there, and I refuse to put a noisy 80mm fan in!
