Chevrolet revealed the all-electric 2024 Blazer EV, expanding the brand's growing EV portfolio, making EV ownership more accessible, and driving Chevy into the heart of the growing midsize electric crossover segment.
Multiple distinct trims, multiple range options - Including an available GM-estimated range of up to 320 miles on a full charge - and available front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations offer customers more choices, and a seamless EV experience designed to complement virtually every lifestyle.
Those choices include available 1LT, 2LT, RS and Chevy's first-ever electric SS performance model, along with a pursuit-rated Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) model for police fleet applications.
"The 2024 Blazer EV sets a new tone for electric SUVs, with options and intuitive technologies that help position Chevy for leadership in one of the fastest-growing EV segments," said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. The Chevrolet Blazer EV is based on GM's innovative Ultium Platform with athletic styling that elevates the heralded design established in 2018 by the gas-powered Chevrolet Blazer, and performance cues inspired by the Camaro and Corvette.
With design and engineering developed to live up to the legacy of the iconic Super Sport performance designation, the Blazer EV SS offers customers the most powerful experience in the lineup. It features an exclusive performance AWD propulsion configuration designed to produce up to 557 horsepower and up to 648 lb-ft of torque, and unique WOW (Wide Open Watts) mode enabling 0-60 sprints of approximately less than 4 seconds (based on GM estimates).

General Motors has revealed the new Chevrolet Blazer EV, which will act as the firm’s crucial rival to the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
Like its Blue Oval rival, the strikingly styled electric crossover will be sold alongside a mechanically unrelated ICE car and share with it a name that has been used by the firm for several decades.
The EV, meanwhile, sits lower and has a bigger gap between the axles, its sides are more heavily sculpted and it has a distinctive wraparound lightbar and illuminated badge at the front.
Available with four specification levels, the Blazer EV is offered with between 247- and 320 miles of range, putting it ahead of the 300 miles offered by the 4.1-tonne Hummer EV.
All cars are available with a 17.7in touch screen infotainment system, an onboard charging rate of 11.5kW and can charge up to speeds of 190kW. Entry-level 1LT cars are front-wheel drive only, while four-wheel drive is an option on 2LT and RS models.
Range-topping, performance-oriented SS cars are equipped with four-wheel drive as standard, with more aggressive bodywork, including a two-tone colour scheme, a black roof, bespoke front grille and 22in wheels.
The model also packs a hefty performance boost to rival that of the Tesla Model Y, propelled by a 549bhp dual-motor set-up with 648lb ft of torque. SS models also benefit from a ‘wow’ (wide open watts) mode, which thrusts the EV from 0-62mph in less than 4.0sec.

Confusingly, it’s labelled the 2024 Blazer, so we’re all living in GM’s future now. A future bet on the company’s ‘Ultium’ electric platform – a flexible architecture that’ll sit under stuff like the Caddy Lyriq and Celestiq, Equinox and Sierra EV.

The long awaited Chevrolet Blazer EV is finally here. Well, it’s official at least, if not really with us - what we are looking at is the 2024 model that we will be able to buy in 2023. In 2022 we get to look at its photos and watch the videos and dream about owning it. Taking a huge step towards ending the torture, GM is now accepting the orders for it.
Blazer is a name that GM takes seriously, it’s a breadwinner for the company and there is no room for mistakes or stumbling off the blocks. The car is being launched at a time when a myriad of new EVs are starting to arrive on the market and competition is getting tough. But GM has an ace up its sleeve - the Ultium architecture.
Chevrolet Blazer EV will share the Ultium with Cadillac Lyriq. The flexibility of the platform is only just being appreciated, Blazer EV will be the first car to fully take advantage of it. The car will be available with three different battery sizes and three different drivetrains - front or rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
First thing we notice looking at the car is its wheelbase - at 3,094 mm it is 130 mm longer than Tesla Model X’s and yet the overall length is 60 mm shorter. Blazer EV will have plenty of room inside and additional benefit is room for a larger battery.

While some manage to make an OK job out of it, some fail miserably - yes, we are looking at you, VW. According to Edward Kummer, the GM digital chief, and Mike Himche, executive cockpit director, GM is planning to ditch the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto next year.
The first vehicle to move away from Apple and Google software will be the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV. Thankfully the move is not as dramatic as it may seem at first glance. GM has been watching the competition and has no intention of developing its own software. Instead, the company is going to use the Android Automotive embedded software suite.
What’s the difference between Android Auto and Android Automotive? While the Auto is simply a projection of your phone onto the car’s infotainment system, the Automotive software is embedded and runs without the need for an external device. Android Auto has a unified look across all the devices, Android Automotive is highly customizable and each manufacturer can make it look as they want.
GM argues that Android Automotive is a big step up from Android Auto, it gives the company more control over the user experience. On top of that Android Automotive comes with eight years of Google Maps updates and Google Assistant is free and is kept updated as well. With the future driver assistance tech more intertwined with onboard navigation, the car won’t require a phone to perform all its functions.
