New computer case?

They're not that bad :)

I have an i5 760 with a CM 212 + Hyper Cooler. The GPU is a 6870.

Everything is nice and cool :)

How did you fit a 140mm fan in the front?

I retro-fitted a 120mm fan in the front using some double-sided tape :p

But I couldn't fit the 140mm one there...

I also have a 140mm fan in the side panel, and have replaced the further-back top exhaust fan with a 140mm fan

Woa.. huge FAN lol

how much does a 140mm fan cost? About?

Ono'rach: I've also fitted a 120mm fan in the 5.25" bays with cable ties & double sided tape.

I'm very tempted to check if moving the top 200mm fan to the bottom makes any difference in the temperatures.

Yeah I actually want to know, having a fan at the bottom going to the top.. (Hot air rises.. )

Is that true? Like does it help?

Please try and let us know! :)

I'm just worried that sucking air from the bottom will mean sucking in lots of dust...

Even the GPU?

Most of the time my GPU blows out warm air..

Ja it stays pretty cool, but it has a low speed, high air pressure fan blowing air right onto it.

@Doobyscoo: How did you fit a 140mm fan in the front? Can you take a pic please? :)

I've taken the time this weekend to make a few changes to the CM 690 II Adv case and my temperatures dropped almost 10'C on both my GTX 460 graphics cards and CPU - but it might also be slightly attributed to lower room temperatures.
The i7 CPU @ 2.93GHz never exceeded 55'C and the graphics cards didn't exceed 62'C & 70'C respectively, where my CPU would usually peak at about 69'C and the graphics cards at 70'C and 76'C.

I've moved the top 140mm fan to the bottom, which probably made the biggest difference. I've also removed the bottom HDD cage, since I only have 1 HDD & 1 SSD installed.
I completely redid all the cabling, so now there's a nice & clean air channel from the front top 120mm fan, that I've added with cable ties & double-sided tape, to the CPU.

I did get a lot more respect for the case after I had to work on my church's PC's this weekend & with the new temperatures ;)

The HAF 912 is most likely better than the 690 II due to it being able to take 2x 200mm fans, where the 690 II can only take 140mm fans.
You can get the HAF 912 (Windowed) version at Prophecy Shop for pretty much the same as what the non-windowed version goes for at Rebeltech: http://www.prophecy.co.za/coolermaster-advanced-rc912akwn1-chassis-with-window-p-86924.html

Don't think it's the temps that much. I especially had a look at mine with the colder temps this week to see what happens and mine dropped from about 60'C to 58'C (Bear in mind I've got an Phenom II x2 550 that's in a normal no special metal chassis with no cable management or Modular PSU with a fan in front and exhaust out back. So I think the cooling really makes a difference.

I also built a clients CM 690 II Adv Nvidia Ed chassis with its components on Friday. I really got lots of respect for it as it really seems like the ultimate in air cooling and just normal usability. Also thought about that HDD cage as it really does prevent proper airflow into the chassis other than going over the HDD.

I have my DVD-ROM installed on the lowest drive bay, the space left above it is almost exactly 140x140 so I put the fan in there and just cable tied it through its mounting holes onto the frame.

Ah thanks :)

My DVD is installed in the highest bay so that would explain it. I will give that a try when I get home :)

Half 912.. Isn't that thing HUGE?

I read the link, it doesn't say it can take the 200mm.. is that a different one? Cause I know the one that can take the 200mm fan is over R1000

kaisterkai: according to the specifications at Prophecy Shop, that "cheap" HAF 912 can take 200mm fans instead of 2x 120mm fans.

I would suggest that you contact Prophecy Shop and just confirm that before you consider buying that case.

Oh I see..

So instead of placing 2 120, you only place one 200?

That pretty much sums it up, yes. I read a here the other day stating that bigger isn't always better as it depends on a lot of things, so I'd say stay with the 2x 120mm fans and if you do have an 200mm replace it and see if it does make a difference.

I'm going to throw another one in the list. The GMC H-80. It goes for R700 and looks like a HAF-series with a front 120mm fan, a side 250mm fan, a top 120mm fan and a rear 120mm fan with the option to replace the side 250mm with 4x 120mm fans and adding a bottom 120mm fan.

Does the 250mm fan come with the case or do you have to get it yourself?

This one maybe a little bit better than the Z9..

Hard to choose

:P

The only optional fans are replacing the 250mm with 4x 120mm and putting in the bottom 120mm. The front, rear, top and side fans are included.

It's a bit bigger than the Z9 though, same size as the HAF-series and has the 4 stock fans in stead of 2.

Makes it difficult though seeing that you don't have that much space for a bigger chassis and you have the extra fans, but I thought it'll be fun confusing you some more... The choices really are endless.

So they don't give you that 250mm fan with the case? you have to get it somewhere yourself?

Mm.. I think I might be able to fit that case somewhere.. I'll have to make space..

True~ There are really alot of options..

Thanks

again

Hi,

The 250mm fan does come with the chassis. Only the 120mm bottom fan is not included.

These are the included fans:
3x12cm Fan (Front,Rear,Top), 1x25cm Fan (Side)

Thats pretty high temperatures?

I have a CM690 and my temps are at around 30-32

czc: are you running dual graphics cards?

The temperatures that I've posted are full load temperatures. My new idle temperatures are 35'C for the CPU and 35'C & 37'C for the graphics cards.
