New Computer

Spending R25k on a PC is madness... without a doubt....

R15k should be about the limit.. and that will still last for a decent amount of time.

sorry, but i've had my computer for a long time (4 yrs) so i can get a new computer on condition until 1st year varsity

I've had my computer for 3 years... cost me R6k then.. and its still going strong...

Hey

Check Matrix Computer Warehouse... They have a branch in JHB... give them a call and see what pricing they give and see if its worth it buying it from them

If only u were living in DBN, i could have arranged the whole pc for you

Why you can not get the parts online? Parents don't let you use their Credit Card? What about EFT, and I believe some internet dealers even accept direct deposit.

is it prophecy or digital addiction that will build the computer?

Dude buying online doesnt mean you'll get ripped, just use one of the well-known sites...

I buy from LandmarkPC... They are an online e-tailer but I go to Andy's place and pick up my pc...

Check out:

Dont use bidorbuy or gumtree type sites.

You'll be saving thousands by using them... If you or your parents arent comfortable with doing it all online ask if you can go to there place (Most probably their own house) and do the deal like that... Buying from a shop means you have to pay for more than just the component + the 10% or so mark-up... It means you have to pay the places rent, the salaries, etc. etc.

i'm getting my parts from different places where they are the cheapest i could find, and no i'm not comfortable with online buying i've never bought anything online. where can i pick up from landmark if i buy from there.

BTW guys thnx so much for helping me out with my new pc.

pcint.co.za is a good place to purchase stuff from and they have an office in JHB. You can pick up your stuff from them rather than have it couriered to you. Also pricing is very good

I've had very good service with Sybaritic and they have a great selection too. Their prices are great too.

you can place the order online, but you can pay the money into their bank account which ever way you please.

they are based in Johannesburg and they do deliveries nationwide if Im not mistaken.

hi guys,
i'm looking for a new computer (sig is fake) that will last me a long time maybe until 1st year university (i'm in grd 10).

so what i want to ask is which graphics card should i get, 9800GX2 or GTX200 sieries, or 9800GTX Black Edition.

for processor i was thinking to get a Core I7. which motherboard should i get with this.
for RAM i can only get DDR3. anyone know cheap.

a really nice case and some good priced liquid cooling.

Good to see im not the only Gr. 10 on the site!!! ;)

LandMark is in CPT... Thats why I didnt list the website :) They do deliver countrywide tho... But the others are all Gauteng based... And you have to take the leap some or other time...

The ones people list here are well known, and some of the people are even active on this forum... There is no risk buying from them... Take the chance and safe some cash... You want be dissapointed aslong as you stick to the recommended sites...

Its fake... He wanted to seem 1337... ;)

Now he is going to try and be 1337z0r by buying a R25 000 pc... Which his parents will pay for, so they might be rich :P

@SlyFly
The guy just wants to earn some bragging rights, its his age and the parents can afford it, let him.. lol

@11masoodt
As far as the budget goes, it should be able to get you the fastest, most meanest machine on the market. On the flip-side, i7 is still relatively new and you are stepping ahead to be an early adopter, not to discourage you but future i7's may top out or come close to the current high end i7 at a much cheaper price point. This is what happened with the Core2Duo.
I would say you rather wait until Intel rolls out the next line-up of i7 and then make your move, it's not too far off.

Just my 2c
