First of, the only internet connection i have had aside from the cellphone was the old Telkom R7/weekend connection back when i was still living with my parents. So now that im thinking of getting my own i need some pointers as the websites i have looked at is not clearing up the confusion.

The connection will be mostly used for the kids' schoolwork with a few downloads thrown in here and there.
Based on another thread here i am looking at the following:
DSL line - Afrihost 2MBs R159
ISP - Vox Fatpipe Home 100Gb R99

However, is there any other costs involved (aside from a router that is)?
Will there still be a charge from Telkom or is the line part form Afrihost including line rental for instance.

any pointers is welcome including changes to the Service providers, though i think its the cheapest option from what ive seen so far.

Ah, knew it was too good to be true. Lol.
Was kinda hoping to get something under R500.

That deal is icluding a modem which i allready have. Any idea what the pricing on that deal would be on a month to month option?

Just had a look at Telkom's coverage and they say my area has VDSL up to 10Mbps available, does that mean i can only get that speed or can i still opt for a lower 2/4Mbps?

Also, how does Telkom's Unlimitedhome 4mbs compare to the Vox/Afrihost combo i mentioned earlier?

Price is the same but no 24month contract.

No you can get lower speeds, 2Mb/s will be falling away at the end of the month when telkom bumbs their clients up to 4Mb/s.

No idea never used the others.

Thanks ponder. That clears up a few things.

Anyone else know whether i should go with Telkom or other options? Considering the R200 line rental that is needed with any other options the Telkom offer looks like the one to go with rather.
