So my sister-in-law started working recently and wants to take out a contract. The most she is willing to pay pm is R150 and the phone will be used 50% calls and 50% data. Calls are generally quick so I would think per second billing might be better.

Would someone point me in the right direction for a contract for her keeping in mind the above info and that she would prefer a decent phone.

Thanks.

For that budget Telkom Mobile is best.

Try to stick to prepaid as long as possible...especially if you don't need a new phone.

I switched to a high end contract to early and it wasn't the brightest move...

There's no OOB shark with Telkom Mobile.

Pre paid is out for now although I also suggested it but she desperately needs a new phone and wont be able to buy one cash as her salary is a bit of an excuse for a salary.

Assuming you don't stray too far from TM coverage and caught the part about TM unlimited being capped to march then yes.

Even assuming you're on MTN the entire time, and all unlimited calls and data fall away it is still an incredible deal. The closest Vodacom has on that phone is R229pm for 75mins and 200MB of data.

I guess opinions vary...personally I'd rather take the VC one anyway. Endured a solid 2 years of suffering under MTN service and their cutting out during crucial calls / no signal / distortion / silent "missed calls".

I'll rather pay VC 200 more than have to deal with that sht again...

Yea I'm also on VC for years now, all I'm saying is that is an incredible deal if you're shopping in that budget range. Don't know anything about their service though.

The big operators have always been area dependant.

I think she should choose an affordable contract from Telkom Mobile.I am currently on a Vodacom top up contract and it sucks,I pay over R2 per min on calls and thankfully i have wifi at home.Ask her to look at the nokia 630 and xperia E1 but phone a store beforehand to check stock availability.Telkom Mobile has the best deals but their device selection is extremely limited. The Lg L70 would have been perfect for her but Telkom doesn't stock any Lg handsets. If she is keen on using the 1GB and apps, then android is the way to go.If she needs a phone for basic tasks then go for Nokia.

Would she be keen on a S3 mini?It might be worth it if the 500mb is over 24months.s3.jpg
