FYI there are two new Coreshares ETF products launching towards end October:

CoreShares S&P500
CoreShares S&P Global Property

TER's will be 0.45% for the CoreShares S&P500 & 0.50% for the CoreShares Global Property (i.e. the S&P one is much cheaper than DBXUS)

What's your opinion on the ETF's?

That's not Thor

These ETFs are great in that they are cheaper than the DBX ones. If you look at the annualised growth though it doesn't look that great (from a South African perspective) unless one factors in a crashing Rand (the reason DBXWD has been performing so well since 2009...Zuma).

Anyway, we'll probably be able to get them in your TFIA accounts. The only "problem", especially for the global property one, is that our tax free accounts are free of local taxes and not foreign taxes. So if the Americans apply dividend tax you'll be paying it (probably already factored in way before the dividend for the ETF is declared).

Who knows.

Always nice to have options...especially cheaper ones!

I am considering allocating a small piece to the international property ETF.
I think I still prefer the DBX World for international equity allocation (better diversification even though it is at a slightly higher cost)

Those Coreshares are smart (those guys take a spread over the Vanguard cost of 7bps plus some other fees) but if possible I would rather send cash to the states direct. One-off cost and then your cash is also free from grabby hands... There's an idea I read about that Zuma could declare some kind of state of emergency, suspend the constitution and run the country through the army. Far-fetched but then so was almost everything else he's been able to do.

You can get cash to the states in R25k+ chunks, a few options for brokers that are cheap (eg: TD Ameritrade charges $10 a trade and no holding fee). One problem is that it seems like one needs a USA bank account to receive your cash and get it into the broker.
