The South African Police Service has just launched a new website

Online SAPS Journal

The aim of the website is to improve interaction between the police, community and the Media. The new website will carry information on Police Initiatives in crime combatting and also information on the investigation of crimes. The website will also publish crime stories submitted by the Public, contributions and suggestions to fight crime will also be published

I am curious. Is this an official website or is it as amateur as it looks?

Lol, I'm waiting for the animated gif of homer simpson burping to pop out somewhere :D

As shall I.

What gets me on the SAPS site is that under Firearms Safety they have a diatribe about domestic violence and some arb stuff about BB guns. Yes, you should have your partner's guns confiscated because they may lead him/her to victimise you.

Grr.

Hi guys

It is indeed official. I just spoke to the webmaster and will get some details tommorow...

Regards,

RPM

Not you. The creator of the site.

Hm. Maybe they'd accept help putting together a better version.

Of course it's official, did you guys doubt me ? I am in shock
Quick call an ambulance .... Oh, no, I forgot, they don't answer their phones either :D

Honestly, I fail to see the point of spending money on a separate propaganda site like this. It's so blatantly biased.

A case of the SAPS trying to manage the image rather than the crime problem?

It is actually nice to see some success stories, as opposed to all the bad news you see in the media.

Granted, the police still have a LONG way to go to get crime under control, but every single day we just see bad bad bad bad bad in the press.....

This might balance perceptions a bit, hopefully.

Yet, action speaks louder than words.........

Definite contender for the world's most terrible web design.
But that should be expected from a cop superintendent cum webmaster. LOL.
