New data bundle prices announced

Can already see the full page vodacom ads in the newspapers now...

This bolt on bundles is not good at all. To think that 8.ta is now cheaper than the normal voice contracts with data that Cell C is offering. I am sure that Vodacom and MTN is very confortable indeed with Cell C that stopped competing. Remember the data stick offers is limited to stock availability.

The reason they offering this product at a launch introductory price is to get a lot of users on their base station and once you reach your cap - Sorry sir you have to buy OOB or Bundle - seriously CELL C should of been more aggressive with pricing like R100 per gig, R250 per gig is too overpriced to me...

A friend explained Cell C's marketing strategy in very simple terms:

"The "C" in Cell C stands for "cheetah". It is incredibly quick out of the blocks, sprints like hell for a very short time, and then it runs out of steam and goes and lie in the shade for the rest of the day. Just like a cheetah it causes a bit of excitement for a few seconds, but in reality it has small teeth and is chased from its kill by just about any other predator."

RIP Cell C

The 2Gb bundle price is probably a mechanism by Cell C to limit the heavy data users to 5Gb per month on their own network. These users will use their VC simcards after that because it is cheaper to top up, while Cell C's network won't suffer too much of a slowdown.

What kind of business model wants your competition to gain clients under any circumstances?

But it is a bit confusing chasing clients away once they have reached their cap 0.o

 I've ask Trevor but he ain't telling. Maybe there will be a website TellLars soon then we can ask him!

I modified the table MMB published. You can see it here: http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=19671

At least the one thing CellC is still doing differently is rewarding people who commit to longer terms. The rest of the providers, regardless if you are on pre-paid or contract, bundles cost the same.

Still I can't help feeling that CellC have effectively stalled all the momentum they have built up till now...

It's missing a 1.. I'm they'll have some clause in their T&C saying they aren't responsible for incorrect prices though.

How can they not be responsible when they are the one's advertising incorrect pricing ?

Shouldn't one pay the price you see advertised ?

Remember Reggies and the PS3 story......

I asked a lawyer on this and according to him you will get nowhere with a problem in pricing. they will have fine print in everything. even adverts

Please don't compare CELL C with Reggies, on reggiet website you could click buy, input all the necessary information credit details and your card would be charged that amount but if you going to use CELL C method try their USSD structure and see if they charge you R50, if they don't complain you could have a foot to stand on cause no ToS etc were indicated
