So, I was considering a new Data contract with MTN as I've moved and cancelled the Telkom Do Broadband.

Went down to the local MTN store and enquired what I'd need and whether they have the modems in stock. Standard documents required and yes they have stock.

So, this morning I go to the same place with my ID, payslip, proof of address and 2 months bank statements (one was lost in the mail during the move). Only for the lady there to advise me that it would take 4 to 5 days for credit approval, which would most likely mean I'd only get the contract and modem in 2009 (all the holidays and such). I think this is pathetic.

Now, after reading some of the user comments on the forum I've actually decided against the contract. I might consider using a prepaid number for a while and buying a modem cash.

Wise choice...unless you're happy to wait. The chances are you may lose your new house to cover the costs of your MTN databills!:p
