New DELL XPS LAPTOP RANGE

Damn that's expensive although as the old saying goes: 'You get what you paid for".

I wonder how long the battery lasts without be connected to the mains :p

Indeed,

Looks like they discontinued the XPS M170 Range, there goes any hope of me landing that laptop.

Interesting though is that the lowest end model with a 7900 in it is more expensive than the lowest end XPS M170 ....

I thought Nvidia said the 7900 was cheaper to manufacture than the 7800 so i guess it's blatant profiteering ....

R25k odd ... considering the pc you getting and its a laptop with a freakin 17" screen and 2gig ram and 7900gtx and and and .... i dont think relatively speaking that is bad ...

wonder if person can sell it for that price ... it will be good ... though i have not seen alienware.co.za up as yet ... taking some time ....

Cant do it at a better price then dell can...they like the keep their prices all the same. Alienware.co.za should be up within the week... or so i have been told.

I thought Dell was supposed to be the most expensive, when I was buying a laptop for my dad a woman who was also shopping for one told me that she works for Dell but won't buy one because they're so much cheaper so we both got Fujitsu Siemens ones.

EDIT: My dad is not a woman

Dell got a £299 laptop out now...ok, it isnt great, but fsck it, £299 for a new laptop with a warrantee etc etc. I think it was Celeron M @ 1.5ghz, 256mb ram, 40gb and combo drive, 14"tft..nothing great, just "company laptop" fodder

for £339 it upgrades to a dvd writer and 15" tft

THAT IS DAMN CHEAP

Ah yes but you have to compare apples to apples. You can get a top-end desktop system for between $2000 (R12 000) to $2500 (R15000) in the US. Also this is supposed to be a desktop replacement system yet how useful will it be when it can only last 1h off the mains? (I suppose if you LAN alot it could be useful)

Dont forget it's pretty as well, it's going to attract many glances, is that not also worth it :D

Still it's a mean machine that would eat most ppl's desktop's for breakfast.
I see you can get the XPS M170 (the one with the 7800GTX) for about 1400 Pounds, so i might still get that machine.

Go get one off ebay - they sell them there quite often.....

Nothing wrong with ebay.

Dell Home knocks 10% off select XPS Notebooks via code "1PX1$9WG3CBPF?"

Not bad....
