How do I connect the following systems to maximise picture and sound quality.

• There are only two HDMI ports on my TV and so with the purchase of the new DSTV HD Decoder there are now three HDMI port requirements (DSTV decoder, Home Theatre system and PS3).
• When I switch HD channels on the DSTV decoder the audio channel changes from ‘audio’ to ‘tv’, I then have to press the ‘function’ button on my Home Theatre System remote to change it back to audio to get the audio | sound back

Sony Bravia BX400 Full HD TV (only has two HDMI ports)
DSTV New Single View HD Decoder (4U)
Sony Play Station PS3
Sony BDV E190 Home Theatre System

I can attach the user guides for ease of reference and please note that I am technically challenged

I see the HT System lacks HDMI inputs.
So you would have to get an HDMI switch (2 in and one out) to connect the three devices to your TV.
Two devices via the switch and the other via the normal HDMI plug.

No idea what problem you have with the sound. It must be DSTV related perhaps? Some channels have 5.1 Dolby soundtracks which will be triggered and shown on your Sony HTS amp. So it would change accordingly when you change channels.

EDIT:
HTS manual: http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4418860131.pdf
See page 44. Possibly related to the ARC sound transferred via HDMI from TV to the HTS? Try disabling it?

Edit: I see the TV supports ARC.
