Someone told me DSTV are launching new PVR Decorders. Does anyone have nay idea when these will be launched?

Sounds like it will be atleast a R6000 job this new decoder. Don't think I'll be an early adopter on this one.

Or any other time. I'll stay with my SD decoder, until they actually increase the quality of their broadcasts to anything but mangled mpeg streams. ActionX is so damn poor it hurts my eyes. I really can't see them using the current broadcasting standard for their HD PVRs. It will just amplify the poor quality.

Slightly off topic... Been fortunate enough to see a test drive of the new software for the current range of PVR’s though, and am really impressed. Some “TIVO like” features at last! This is what the PVR should have had from day one. One of the most exciting of these is “series record”: when you press the record button a little screen pops up asking if you want to record only this specific episode, or all episodes in the entire series. If you select yes, the PVR will automatically schedule recordings of the entire season - no need to set up a recurring time-based recording. When it detects a recording conflict, it will automatically search the EPG for a repeat for you, and resolve the conflict. A whole bunch of other nifty features too… including Video On Demand (special content downloaded to your hard-drive over-the-air to watch when you want). I think PVR owners will be very pleasantly surprised.

Now they just need to fix the EPG. Not to be relied upon ATM>
