We have a Telkom capped ADSL at home. 10gb. So today I noticed in the daily usage email that my data usage has increased tremendously the last two days but had no idea what the cause could be. Tonight at home i saw my 6 yr old watching kids shows on the Explora catchup menu. I didnt really worry as this is all cool with me. Then an hour later i walked in as he selected an option and i saw the Explora menu giving an option to stream or download the program/movie. WTF! He's been streaming for two days now without my knowledge. Almost 3 gigs lost. Sheez DSTV. I know you were going to change some menus and so on bur this change was not very child friendly. Not everyone has uncapped data. And to top it all off I now noticed the option to disable Internet connection for catch up content on the settings menu is not working. Grrr.

Why is the explora plugged into the router or switch? if you don't want to use those features?

That's what I was thinking. Dear SeRpEnT please do tell.

Why aren't you on uncapped?

Um. Because as an adult i wanto use the feature from time to time? Something wrong with that? But now i have to manually unplug the bloody ethernet cable at the back of machine every time i want to avoid the kids fooling around with downloads. What a schlep.

On this subject, is there a setting to schedule when the Explora can download? If there is, set it to only download between midnight and 7am which will not count against your Telkom Cap usage.

Why dont you have 100gb fibre? Money perhaps? ☺

Telkom 2 meg uncapped is R550 all inclusive with the 25%discount. That includes analogue and adsl line rentals and uncapped data.

I would be impressed if you are paying less for that 10 gig.

Paying R399. Wish my budget could afford that extra 150. But really. The reason of this thread was to get some opinions on the Explora software changes and not to get stupid comments from Tom, Dick and Harry...

Fair enough, did you manage to get the disable Internet connection option to work? It really should work and if it doesn't then it's really sloppy testing that was done.

That's what a public forum is though , comments from random people pretending to be women.

Can't you unplug it from the router? I agree it should be working right and MC should be accountable for wasting your data but it really doesn't sound like much of a schlep over enabling/disabling it with a passcode on the machine.

Eish. That's too much effort.

You can also disable the streaming in settings when you are not watching and enable it when you feel like watching online. I doubt the kid knows how to re-enable the streaming from the settings menu.
