Hi Guys.

I got the new DSTV HD PVR (The white coloured one), and on the back there is an eSATA port and a Network port ... any idea if these are functioning and what they can be used for. Would be nice to transmit content over network and back up to eSATA :)

Regards

Itai

I asked this yesterday when I got mine, they're non functional.

What I did find out last night is although you cannot watch 2 channels at the same time you can broadcast the main channel over the RF out to a second TV. If you setup the TV Link and the Xtraview function to TV1 and set the 2 options to on for remote relay or whatever it is you can change channels from the second feed as well. For me this negates the need for a 2nd decoder as we either watch TV in the lounge or in bed. Just got to get another remote now.

Strange how many people dont realize that (what Juggy says). On the SD-PVR you can watch both channels on the single RF out. I presume the same must hold for the old dual view as well...

I'm saying on the HD pvr you can watch the same channel on 2 TV's and add the tv-link so you can change the channel from the 2nd as well.

Lots of things non functional on DSTV decoders.

Makes the decoders look more "complete", thus you perceive it is more value for money than [-]they screwed out of you for it[/-] you paid for it.

What .... so can you control the decoder using the IR from the actual TV ... or am I misunderstanding and you need a remote blaster?

You buy a TV link from Space Television for around R120. Connect your TV in the bedroom using the RF OUT on the HD PVR and put he TV Link at the end between the RF and the bedroom telly. Set your HD PVR to TV Link on, there are one or 2 more settings to set as well. Make sure you always shoose TV1. You can now control your TV channel from either end so when you go to bed take the remote with you and you can change channels.

I wasn't aware of this until I scrolled through the menus last night and figured it out.
