It seems that inktanks, as opposed to catridges has finally filtered down to consumer printers. Wife prints a lot at home so last week, after getting a message from my Canon saying ( screw you my one color is finished I refuse to do ANYTHING) I retired it and bought a cheap Epson ITS.

Setting up takes about 30 mins with all the ink pumping, but now I have 70ml of each print color, which I think should at least last a while

Best part is, the botttles are only like R170

Anyone looked into one as well?

Also got fed up with the Canon can't-print-although-only-one-ink-cartridge-is-empty issue so got an Epson L565 (big family with lots of printing happening) a couple of months ago. Still using the same ink that came with the printer (and probably will for some time). Quite a different experience to replacing the ink cartridges at least once a month. I think the savings on ink cartridges thus far has made up for the heftier price on the printer.

Been using my Epson Inktank for about 2 years now - best printer "investment" ever.
