New Fiesta: SA screwed again?

Just looking at the Fiesta model range on their local site.

The top-of-the-range Titanium 1.6 appears to only have 2 airbags... this is on a car that costs over R170k.

Why is it that SA car companies feel that they can remove safety equipment from their cars and then charge massive prices?

They've done this with the Polos as well - on post 2006 models, the rear disc brakes were removed and replaced with drums (on everything up until the 2.0 range anyway), and then still increased prices.

Although it's not really a problem exclusive to SA. Most of the vehicles built here are also exported so they face the same issues with respect to standard inventory. The main problem is that cars built here cost more than the markets they're being exported to. There is absolutely no excuse why that should be the case.
 
Industry rules and safety standards are different, which is why you can't always compare prices between countries directly.

How exactly do these rules and safety standards translate into monetary value? The exact same specification is shipped. The bottom line is that prices here are artificially high because people keep buying.
 
I paid 180 for my Polo and it has 6 airbags!:)

Yeah, there's a lot of other cars in this price range or even less with 6/7 airbags, but Ford seems to think it's ok to only included 2. Pisses me off mightily, as I really like(d) the new Fiesta.
 
You can go to any car site (UK ones specifically) and see exactly with how much kit Euopean cars come with. In SA we take the top of the range body and exterior trimmings, and strip the interior down to the bare minimum. Afterward we sell the car at a premium, thinking that the public can't Google.

Ask VW about their Seat fsckup - they launched the brand in SA (fully imported cars) and priced them higher than the equivalent-model VW, since the Seat included more kit. SA buyers were outraged since Seat's in the UK are priced cheaper then the same model VW. VW-SA hurryingly went and lowered the price of the Seat but the damage was done - 2 years later the brand was withdrawn and VW-SA left Seat owners high & dry with plummeting resale value.

For too long SA dealers have fscked the SA public with overpriced cars, yet with all the drama in the global economy and plummeting vehicle sales, they still went and hiked the RRP of new cars.

FCSK the SA car industry. FSCK bailing them out of their financial crisis. Let them cook.

VWSA think we stupid.
They need a wake up call and we should all boycott them till we get what we want!!!

My car for instance, doesnt have the armrest thing at the back, I have a standard radio that comes on the 1.6 comfortline instead of the Gamma radio like the UK PGTis.
The car supposed to have a "gloss" door panel... that black piece on the side windows.
Im missing a 12v outlet.
You should look at the accessory list for the Polo in the UK unbelievable!!!
A fridge for an extra 200pounds!!!:eek: They charge us 200 pounds for a front spoiler!

they always cheating us, I hope VWSA feels the crunch and they fire all those idiots!! And we want 2 door Gtis dammit!!!

but i see they jacked up the price for st150 as well, too just over 190k and its still the previous shape
 
Dammit! Haven't they learned by now - the trend it so LOWER prices, not jack them.

The new ST is gonna be an extremely sexy piece of kit.
