Hi Guys

I am moving into my new flat, and have been told that the block I'm moving into already has an ADSL exchange, all I need to do is get a Telkom technician to come to my unit and connect it to the exchange. Does that mean that I need to order a new line then get the technician to come and connect it to the exchange ? I just don't feel I should have to pay a full installation fee etc for a technician to connect me to the exchange that is already in the block ?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.

Thanks

Yes, you need to order a new line. You will pay the full amount, or you can get some bundles from Telkom which include free installation.

The exchange is not in the block or belong to the block, so you have to pay for the new connection.
Doesn't the flat have a line jack already?

Thanks, there is a jack in the wall already, this is the message I got from the body corporate about ADSL:

Kindly note the building is wired for ADSL line.
All you need to do is visit a Telkom branch and subscribed to the service.
A technician will be appointed to link up existing cables at your unit to the exchange.
The exchange is located in Palm Gate.

I think they're mistaking what an exchange is.

Order the weekender line for R206 per month it comes with free installation. Then order ADSL self install once the line is installed.
