OK, here's a question

We have quite an old fridge (maybe 15 years) and from the cursory research I've done online, it seems these are hugely inefficient compared to newer fridges. Most websites recommend upgrading. However, these are all American / European sites.

I was wondering if anybody has more info about the cost savings in a South African context?

Thanks

would also like to know... have a fridge that is like 25 years old :) and im pretty sure it chews electricity.

I have my doubts about whether this is a good idea. Most new appliances tend to be cheaply made. Our expensive Defy fridge has a mind of its own and is poorly designed. It may be energy efficient, but it is a pain to use.

i would like to see a decent 12v fridge, that one can run of batteries/solar. :) or just a plain inverter...
