Ok, so I'm getting me a GTS250 or a 9800GT at month end and I just wanted to know, from the tech gurus here, if I will have any issues with it fitting the mobo and case, will it have enough power, etc.

My specs:

Case: Smilodon
PSU: Gigabyte Odin 550W
Mobo: Gigabyte G41M-ES2L

GTS250 specs (I know of):

Height: 4.376 inches (111 mm)
Length: 9 inches (228.6 mm)
Width: Dual-slot

Any and all info is as usual, most appreciated :D

I've got the GTS250 - it's big!

In a standard case you cannot use the hdd bay that is in line with the card; no space. Also requires a 8-pin power connector (iirc - I'm at work so I cannot check).

You also have a problem with that heat sink behind the PCI slot.... is it very flat?

The 8 pin power connector - wouldn't that come with the card?
The heatsink looks to be about 5-10mm high.

There is normally an adaptor included, make sure you have enough connectors from your PSU.
5-10mm should be OK.

I have a GTX280 on the GA-P35-DS3L, which I am sure is longer than the 9800gt or gts250.

EDIT: Yip 10.5" long (266.7mm) X 4.4" high (111.76mm) X 1.5" wide (38.1mm)

The biggest issue I reckon is going to be the length. Fits perfectly in my Coolermaster Ammo case.

You might battle a little with the space between the ram and th card... depends on the brand of card you are going to get tho... not all of them have the standard nVidia casing on them - usually those types have different GPU coolers.

Sweet, sounds like it will be ok then ...... <insert sigh of relief here> :D

Edit: just checked some manufacturers sites, most brands of GTS250's do only require a 6 pin.
