Im looking at the possibilty that i may have to upgrade my GPU for BC2.

This would be an emergency upgrade, so i would have only in the region of about R1500 to spend.

Currently running a 7900gtx.

If i were to upgrade now, what would a good option be?

Also, with both ATI and NVIDIA bringing out new cards in march (i think), is it a good option to wait and see what the prices do, or does it take too long to filter down to our country?

I would get a 5770 or 5750 if i was you.

You can wait but i am not sure a 5770 or 5750 will drop all that much. All depends on nvidia really, if they bring out a cracker jack line then ati will drop prices.

You can get a 2nd hand GTX 260 core 216 for +/- R1400, but ATi 5*** has DX11..

also been looking at the 5770. It should suffice as a stop-gap until i do a full upgrade again.

Well actually it more than suffice if your next upgrade included a motherboard that run crossfire, 2 5770 is more or less equal to a 5870 for about grand less. Bare in mind though it does need a good power supply. I am not sure what you are running now.

Yea but it is not always W that matter, if you have do not have enough amps on a rail then you could have 2000w power supply and starve the thing. So if it is some old 400w it may not have enough juice to run it.

My PSU shouldnt be a problem.

Had to replace mine recently, so running a 500W (and i have my current GPU running off it)

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated :)

5770 in x-fire is awesome. As a single gpu I don't really like it but x2 it's incredible.

Will see tonight, got 17900 with my 9800gx2. Will see how much it gets tonight.

16750, not bad for a card that cost 2k. Insane actually. Cannot wait til i got more cash the other one next month.

Me as well, plan on getting another next month. What did you get? I got the vapor x. Itching to see it perform :D.

Got the Asus, was thinking about the Vapor X :) .. the card seems to run very quite and cool.. still have to do some benches.

Ya dude i read the asus runs about 9 degrees hotter which is not much hey. I mean my old 9800gx2 idle at 65 with the fan at 100% and 85 sometimes 90 under load so i am glad it is gone just added so much heat inside my box

This card runs at 38 idle, load i have no idea :D. Got to give it to amd these are some sweet cards for the price. Nvidia better hope they have a good product.

38c is excellent .. mine currently idle at 44c , but my case still open. so not sure if I close it it will get better or worse.
