I have the 8800GT card and Sandybridge cpu 2500k, 4gb ram, etc.

I was thinking, is there any point in upgrading my gpu if I don't play games? I do some video editing (home movies)

What do you think? If so, which model?

What video editing programs you use?
Do you use scratch disks?
A CUDA/MPE card makes a huge difference in performance and improves quality of the output over software MPE.

Also ssd are useless for video editing as it speeds up nothing. Only your boot time.
get a nvidia card like the 560ti or even the Gtx 460
