So I decided to upgrade my 7600GS AGP and wasn't sure if the HD2600Pro or the X1950XTX was the better option.

I toook the plunge and bought the X1950XTX and an Asus Silent Square Pro to cool my CPU after I decided that the Galaxy II wasn't such a good idea.

Any thoughts on the card? It's the GeCube model.

Shouldn't that question have come first? Not sayin anything just wondering why do it this way around:)

Because it was an impulse buy. I'm pretty confident that it's better and can always take it back or swap it if the 2600 is radically better.

I'm a big boy and know how to make my own decisions;)

Hehehe yeah i know how it goes and as you say you can always sell it if you're unhappy. So have you fired it up yet and got some games running?

ok im assuming both are cards will fit in your agp slot correct?

did not know the newer models came out in agp

juggy you want dx 10 go for 2600

you want good performance in dx 9 better than the 2600 go for the 1950

That's what I thought. I'm not really that much of a gamer but still like having decent hardware. I have the 360 for games anyway. I just want to kick my mates butt. He the X850PT or something similar.

I just bought the Toshiba Satellite A200-1M8 (notebook) which comes with the mobility version of the ATI HD2600. Struggled to find benchmarks on it, so just got it based on how well it ran the UT2007 demo (saw it on a friends A200-1M8) and what other info I could find. Will be keen to run some benchmarks once I get 3Dmark06 etc...

It will be much fasster than the 2600Pro, definitely the right choice.

Didn't actually know you get that card in AGP.

X1950 IMO, 2600Pro is a weak card :( if you want to go 2600 go HD 2600XT GDDR4 only good ATI midrange card out at the moment but with 8800GT & HD 3850 comming out who knows what will happen!

X1950XT good card... Better than HD2600... For DX9 games at least...
I would have gone for 8600GTS though

How does the mobility HD2600 compare to the HD2600XT? Does anyone know? I'm a bit clueless as to how the new cards compare, and even more clueless when it comes to ATI cards...

Primarily I got my notebook for work/development and am running Vista Home Premium.
Having a decent graphics card is just a bonus for when it comes to using the notebook for gaming and watching movies.

I'd just save the extra bucks and wait till I can upgrade to a newer, PCI-X board etc..

But that's not really helping :)

No, seriously though, is it worth it to you to spend money on a card that's running on older, more outdated technology, which you will probably struggle to sell if you ever decide to upgrade?
