My new PC picked up a problem and needs to go in for a new harddrive. Problem is that I have loaded some software that requires www activation online - which has been done. How do I ensure that I dont re-register for the same software after it is loaded on my PC? ie Kaspersky Internet virus. If I load it on my PC and then request all the updates etc it will tell me that I already have an account. Likewise with MS Flight Sim X, wont MS see this as loading the same software twice? Thereby indicating "piracy". When loading Flight Sim I didnt need to indicate email address and all the rest how does MS know that I am not a pirate?

Any suggestions indications etc?

Normally you should be more concerned for your Data, Programs and Registration are not generally an issue with re-installs, what you will find is an OS reinstall may set you back in service packs, similar with your games.

Just make sure they take the old hd out in front of you and hand it over to you. Else I would suggest you remove it yourself & keep it in a safe place.

Thanks for the replies, PC was under guarantee and therefore cant do it myself. Have to wait 15 working days for IC/Acer/Packard Bell to do it for me:-(
Just worried that I will encounter the problem a friend had when he tried to reinstall software it didnt allow him to activate software due to the fact that it had already been activated (by Him). Data not a problem, had been making regular updates of photos, docs etc.

bekdik, I really had a problem. Win 7 indicated an "imminent disk failure" as did a live install of Ubuntu 9.10. Overall performance went for a loop and I got some very slow responses from programmes I was running. I communicated with Incredible Connection, but they said that it was out of thier hands and they had to rely on Acer (Even though its a Packard Bell PC).
