Hey guys,

I need to buy a new hard drive as my storage space is running out. I have bought a new HDD a few months ago and paid too much. This is because I don't follow hardware prices. Now I have to ask you guys first. :D

Anyway, I might buy one from a local PC store in Bloemfontein tomorrow. I will at least need 500GB. What HDD would be the best for the amount of money I spend? Do you think internal or external would be better?
I am planning on making my new HDD the primary one with my active OS installed on it. I have never tried external so I'm not sure how good it is to use as a plug and play device on other computers?

Also, I saw an advert from Game of a 2TB external HDD (forgot make) that cost R999! I'm guessing it was a mistake??

Any info to get me up to date with HDD buying will be appreciated.

Thanks

RBD

It's a waste to buy a 500gb drive because the 1tb and 1.5tb drives aren't that much more expensive in a relative sense. Steer clear of the Seagate 7200.11 series drives; the Western Digital green drives have treated me well. I'm running 1tb and 1.5tb drives of that make and all is well so far (after around 6 months of use). Samsung is also an option that many people swear by.
