Hi All,
I've recently acquired a brand new Huawei E170 HSPA USB Modem. As I understand these are the absolute latest in mobile broadband modems and I can honestly say it's really cool. BUT, it seems that I've stumbled across a bit of an issue.
It seems that the device has some issues registering certain SIM cards. I've tried a couple of SIM like the 32K W2 and the C 3G 1.1 which works like a charm in the modem, but with the C 3G 1.2 SIM it doesn't even seem to notice that there is a SIM in the modem. Placing the same SIM back into my old E620 works fine so it's NOT the SIM Card.
So yeah, if any of you comes across a solution to this issue, please post it in this thread, and if any of you are planning to get this monster 7.2Mbit/s capable modem, check the version number of your SIM Card.
Cheers!
