Hey all,

I finally got Broadband after many years of desperation.

anyways I have a few questions.

1) When I connect my modem to my windows 2000 box it does some very wierd things like the dns wont work unless I disable and then re-anable the funny pppoe connection and sometimes not even this will work.

2) It wont allow me to enable ics on the iBurst interface complains that
the private network I want to connect to is not active or isnt working even though it is

3) I want to connect my iBurst modem to my linux-2.6.x box over pppoe do I need to do this directly or can I do it through a hub?

4) Also when I connect to my XP box everything work great but the max speed I can dl at is about 12kbps although this box has pretty bad reception compared to the other two (20%-30% versus upwards of 90%)

Thanx.

Any solutions to my problems would be much apreciated.

No idea as to what is wrong with (1) ...

as to (2) ... do you have a UTD or a UTC ? ... If a UTC you've got no joy as there is no linux 2.6 pcmcia driver available... If using the UTD, plug in the ethernet cable and connect via pppoe. If you want to use the USB under linux(to not unplug your ethernet) ... no joy under 2.6 kernel at the moment... It is under development.

(3) ... I've found some strange things with the USB under XP .. if I use the Ethernet cable it absolutely flies...Eventually tracked the problem (in my case) down to the USB port I was using ...

Hope this helps

Thanks for you help. going to get a new ethernet card tommorow and work things out with my linux box. Maybe ill even write an iBurst + linux-2.6.6 + firewall PPPoE howto when I get things working smooth.

Is there any ways to get signal data from the ethernet port? like some command that the modem responds to? and it will send signal data?
