HI Guys

I just got my Iburst today and I live in Kilner Park in Pta and my Signal when im connected says thats its full and i downloaded a test file from tucows.com and i got about on average 50 kb a sec download rate.

Now on iburst is that good, bad do I need to get an antena and if so who is selling on second hand.

On the iburst map i live in light green Area .Ive have also set my mtu to 1352.

Thank You

hey annihilator..

welcome to myadsl and iburst.

50KB is not good for iburst but i have seen worse. Do a telkom speed test and see what you get. generally speed is better at night then the day.

right now i am also getting about 50KB... but someimtes it's 70Kb/s When i first got iburst about a year ago it was sitting at about 100KB/s

I havent messed with my MTU or anything so perhaps i could improve performance.

If that rate is during the day then it is pretty normal for Iburst.

I wouldnt suggest getting a ext. aerial if you get full signal, it probably wouldn't help at all. Liek Halicon said, do a Telkom speed test and try later on in the night, preferably after 9pm for the best results.

An Average of 50kb means that it bursts higher than that too right? Iburst usually jumps around a bit, so average of 50kb is fine for during the day, could be better though.

Downloads on Iburst benefit considerably from using a multi-threaded download manager (like Flashget, Net Transport, etc). Even if you only get 50KB/s on a single-threaded download, you can still max out the connection at >120KB/s on a multi-thread.

If you use Firefox (and you should) you can get the Flashgot plug-in that will trap your downloads and redirect them to your download manager.
