Hi all

I currently have IS and my local only account which i use mainly for gaming on our local servers.

Its just been so slow lately that ive given up with IS, ive given tham plenty of time to get there speeds to a reasonable level but its still slow as hell so im going to change ISP. Now the only thing is that i dont have any experiance with ISP's for local only and i dont wana another useless ISP thats just as slow...or slower.

Which would you guys recommend?

Any advice would be great
Thanks

I have used WebAfrica for about a year without any problems.
WebAfrica also have now thier own local free game service and there is no data cost for that :) I know they also looking at Steam updates, so that would save even more bandwith.
Currently on Afrihost due to their ultra low bandwith cost.

I am also on Afrihost with no lag.

Afrihost also uses the IS backbone as well... however, I'm not sure that you are buying directly IS as they don't deal with home customers.

What is the company name that you buy your internet from?
I know that Branded Internet have IS as a 'customer' despite actually buying from them as some people insist on buying from IS... so this is how they can do it... although technically they are not! :D

To be honest, it sounds more like a line issue than a supplier issue... more details would be great to see if if we can help out here.

I think Telkom is the only "T1" ISP that owns Seacom resources? I'm not sure but it's highly likely. So then it's a mix between IS and Telkom :D

IS is an ISP. They use either SAT3/SAFE (bought from Telkom) or Seacom (bought from Seacom) for international.

There are many ISP's that use bandwidth from Seacom. Telkom isn't the only T1 in the country. So is IS, and a number of other ISP's.

Both IS and SAIX are pretty good on local only. I don't see how they could possibly be slow. Most of the time latency to local servers is sub 50ms.

Hehe, I know IS is an ISP :D. Ah ok, so IS bought Seacom bandwidth as well.. Do they charge different rates than Telkom?

I would go with WA for local gaming. They have setup a whole range of local severs for games with a service called WAGE. Check it out, will be well worth it.

Was thinking maybe getting WA...

Just checked now IS still slow a heck

IS CSS Dust2 Sniperless Server - 196.38.180.25:27095

IS Local Only Account - 172ms
Telkom International Account - 78ms

Thats the kinda crap im just tired of, how can the Telkom account have a lower ping that the IS account...its an IS server and its still slower.
*slams head into desk*
