I have noticed loads of gear suddenly appear to focus heavily on haste rating and armour penetration. Anyone know why this is? Should we completely change the focus of which stats are more important for certain classes?

Haste has always been number one stats appart from +Hit for end game = More cast/hits per cycle = More DPS

Armour penetration would be for melee I think and it would boil down to the same aka More DPS.

However I think hitting a balance would be the best, +Agility +Crit and what not should still be the core of your build. But I'm just a noob at this theory crafting crap. Best to speak to Pornolio in this regard. He's a crafting KING
 
Depends,stats that used to be important was changed aswell :)

The stats that used to be important would still be,just we have even more to build on

*Oh and don't forget expertise

Baseline stats like hit and such should never be dumped,but once those caps are reached then you can start throwing the extra stats on
 
It's just a continuation of the trend seen in Sunwell items.
Before Sunwell and the new Badge rewards there was very little Haste gear in the game.
Now it's so easily attainable that you find greens with it on.

As for it's value, that very much varies from class to class and depends on your current stats.
For a Deathknight for example, Crit is worth roughly double the value of Haste since Haste doesn't do much for us.

Only thing is I never got close to sunwell in my old guild so had little exposure to haste rating. My main is a ret pally which will become prot spec at 80. I can figure that both haste rating and armour penetration would be helpfull to increase dps.

However, since I have been mainly gearing for crit rating, strenth (AP) and hit rating for raiding, I am a little confused as to how much hit rating, crit rating, armour penetration, etc. will stack against each other.

Guess I will have to spend some time on elitistjerks to get a better understanding of it all.
 
With a Pally and even a deathknight, most of your non auto attacks are instant so haste is not going to help too much there (will help mostly with the white damage and stuff like SoC,etc.)

Actually Seal of the Martyr + haste means a substancial dps increase,and generally as DPSadin you'd be using SotM as the coefficients scale far better than SoC spikes
 
Yeah, Ret Pallies loooove Haste since it scales brilliantly for them.
