New Jeep EVs

Jeep Avenger is electric baby SUV bound for UK next year

New EV will be joined by three more electric cars in Europe by 2025 as Jeep pushes towards electrified future

Jeep will launch an electric entry-level SUV early next year – the smallest it has ever produced – and it will be followed by a further three EVs bound for Europe by 2025.

Called the Avenger, the baby electric Jeep will look to draw new customers to the US brand – now part of the giant Stellantis group – in Europe, with a particular focus on younger, female buyers.

It will be joined on the continent by the range-topping Wagoneer S premium SUV and extreme, off-road-focused Recon (both electric, and will get US launches first), with a final, as yet unannounced electric model to come – which CEO Christian Meunier has described as a look into the future of the brand.

The Avenger itself has been built around the “right size” for Europe, head of Jeep’s European arm Antonella Bruno said.

“What makes it different is its capabilities,” said Bruno, confirming the car will be “equal or better than” the larger Jeep Renegade 4xe when used off road.

The Avenger will launch in the first half of next year (an exact date will be confirmed in October) and use a new version of Stellantis’s ECMP platform – the current version of the architecture is used for EV and combustion versions of the similarly sized Vauxhall Mokka and DS 3 Crossback. This will give it “impressive” ground clearance, Jeep said, with segment-topping breakover and approach angles. A large boot and modern interior will also look to attract a new customer base, Bruno added.

Power will come from the group’s 94bhp motors, with either two or four fitted depending on the variant’s configuration. Both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions will be offered. Range is claimed to be 248 miles. Orders will open on 17 October.

Jeep Shows Off All-Electric '4xe' Future With New Recon and Wagoneer S

Electrification is the future for Jeep, and it doesn't plan on losing any character or capability in the transition.

Jeep’s got some big things coming down the pipeline, and it’s all about electrification. Today, the automaker unveiled its new plans for the next generation of electric SUVs as part of Jeep’s 4xe lineup.

We can look forward to four new all-electric Jeep SUVs on the market in North America and Europe by 2025. Electrified models will be offered across the U.S. lineup, including a Wagoneer 4xe, and if Jeep gets its way, half of all sales in the U.S. will be battery-electric vehicles by 2030, and 100 percent of Euro-market Jeep will be EVs by that time. All this is being done to get Jeep to full net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Leading the charge (hah) are two all-new models: the Jeep Recon and the electrified Jeep Wagoneer S that’ll come to the U.S. early next year.

Jeep has revealed three all-new electric cars

And the Avenger, Recon and plush new Wagoneer will be joined by a fourth EV soon after...

Jeep is having a major pile-on in battery electric drive. It wants to be the 'global zero-emission SUV leader'. In Europe that means all its new-vehicle sales will be full electric by 2030. Even in the US, land of freedom and gasoline, it's expecting 50 per cent by then.

And instead of just boring us with airy but blind promises, they actually have some cars to show for it. Three of them.

First is the Avenger, the JCB-yellow car pictured above. This itty-bitty Jeep was designed in Italy and will be built in Poland. It fits under the Renegade in the lineup, and uses the smallest of the new Stellantis specialist electric platforms. It'll be launched at the Paris Show on 17 October and available to order from that date.

Says global design chief Ralph Gilles: "It was designed in Italy for a reason. These cars exist in cities, they go up kerbs, they need body armour. But it also has Renegade elements like the tail lamps and grille." City use means the planned 250-mile range should be OK.

Jeep says its buyers will be younger, more single and more likely female than its bigger cars. Seems like an over-compensation that they've given it a name as aggressive as Avenger. Grrrr.

(And yeah we do know Avenger was a 1970s Hillman saloon, and also a different but equally crap 1980s Dodge saloon. And Chrysler bought Hillman, and Chrysler owned Jeep and Dodge, and Fiat bought Chrysler, and Fiat merged with Peugeot, so they already have rights to the name. But…)

Jeep Avenger

The first model of the Jeep product offensive is the all-new, all-electric Jeep Avenger, a compact SUV that was presented during the Stellantis Dare Forward long-term strategic plan.

The all-new Jeep Avenger, to be introduced in Europe and other markets, such as Japan and South Korea, will be positioned under the Jeep Renegade and will be produced in the high-efficiency plant in Tychy, Poland.

With a targeted electric range of 400 kilometres, this new SUV will offer impressive ground clearance, breakover and approach angles for its segment, while delivering a modern and technologically advanced interior, with plenty of space for people and cargo.

"The all-new Avenger will offer Jeep brand capability that is rightsized for the European market," said Antonella Bruno, head of Jeep Europe at Stellantis, "This modern, fun and emotional SUV will appeal to a growing set of customers who are looking for a capable, compact, modern and all-electric Jeep brand alternative to the current players."

Jeep Recon Concept

One of the first all-new electric Jeep SUVs that will launch in North America is the Jeep Recon.

This all-new vehicle is aimed at those who love to explore extreme adventures in near silence with a rugged, fully electric vehicle package.

The Jeep Recon is designed from the ground up to be 100% Jeep 4x4 and 100% zero emission. This SUV will be offered exclusively as a BEV, and it will enhance off-roading adventures with:

- True trail-rated capability with Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, under-body protection, tow hooks and aggressive off-road tires
- Authentic Jeep open-air freedom with a one-touch powertop, removable doors and glass
- The latest generation Uconnect system, including detailed travel guides of the most notable off-road trails
+"The all-new, all-electric Jeep Recon has the capability to cross the mighty Rubicon Trail, one of the most challenging off-road trails in the U.S. and reach the end of the trail with enough range to drive back to town and recharge," said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO.

Jeep Wagoneer S Concept

The Wagoneer family is set to grow with an all-new SUV. Code-named Wagoneer S, this fully electric vehicle will continue to expand the brand's presence in the premium SUV segment by offering a unique, sleek, aerodynamic design and 4x4 capability as standard, with all-terrain management, advanced Jeep brand-focused technology and impressive performance credentials.

This new, all-electric, global SUV will be offered exclusively as a BEV, targeting a range of 400 miles on a single charge, 600 hp and a 0-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds.

With an exterior design marked by a signature LED-lit grille, this SUV is driven by aerodynamic efficiency, combined with the upright iconic Wagoneer side view.

Jeep unveils three EV SUVs, first one coming in 2023

Jeep plans to deliver its first fully electrified vehicle to the European market as early as next year. That's going to be the Avenger. Starting next year, the company will open pre-orders for two more SUVs - Wagoneer and Recon - both expected to enter mass production in 2024 and be in stores by 2025.

The Avenger will be even smaller than Jeep's smallest US model, the Renegade, and will remain exclusive to Europe. The vehicle will be built in Poland and will offer about 400 km of range. We will be able to see it in person during this year's Paris Motor Show in October.

Jeep Recon, on the other hand, will be a hardcore SUV that's well-equipped to cross the 35 km off-road Rubicon Trail near Lake Tahoe and go back to town for a recharge. It will also feature Jeep's famous Selec-Terrain traction system, e-locker axle tech and under-body protection. You can even easily remove all doors on the vehicle. The company's last-gen Uconnect infotainment system is also on the menu.

Jeep's Wagoneer Line Makes No Goddamn Sense

I need to get this out there before the cursed knowledge eats me from the inside.

I get where Jeep is coming from, with the Wagoneer. I can picture, in my mind’s eye or whatever, CEO David Stellantis (not a real name) sitting at his desk, glaring enviously at all those Escalade profits. I can see him reading the news about Cadillac refocusing on EVs, a smile beginning to dawn on his face — there are luxury buyers who won’t go EV, so they’ll have to go to another brand. This is his chance, his opportunity to seize those customers he’s so desperately wanted. Build an Escalade competitor, slap a Wagoneer badge on it, and call it a day.

But that badge is where the whole operation starts to fall apart. There are two names, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, so how do you divide those? Do you follow Chevy, with the Tahoe and Suburban denoting short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase versions of the same car? Of course not, you idiot, you rube — you make Grand mean Expensive. That’s the top trim now, only it’s not a trim, it’s an independent model, because god will personally smite David Stellantis if his customers confuse the luxury three-row with the entirely identical base model. This all makes sense, of course.

But, y’know what, those long wheelbase versions do seem like a good idea. Let’s put those in the mix too. Only, damn, what do we call them? Cadillac uses ESV for its biggest Escalade, but that’s just so many letters. We’re Stellantis, for christ’s sake, we can simplify this. Just one letter: L.

But, Wagoneer and Wagoneer L are too close in name. Hm. We can’t have two independent models whose names only differ by a single letter. Well, there’s only one clear solution to this problem: Make the long wheelbase version a trim level, not an independent model.

So now Stellantis has two identical cars, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, each of which have a trim level that is physically different in size and appearance. This is absolutely absurd, on its face, but the company that brought you a special edition Challenger meant for key parties can do better. Go further. Be more wrong.

Wagoneer, as a full-fledged Jeep sub-brand, needs an EV. But, clearly, it can’t be an EV that has literally anything in common with the existing Wagoneers. It can’t be big or boxy, it can’t be the same size, and don’t even think about sharing styling cues between the two. It has to be entirely unrelated, but also still a Wagoneer, because Stellantis hates you, specifically.

So now we have the Wagoneer S, which is the size of a Grand Cherokee, and has nothing in common with the other cars in the lineup. We have the Wagoneer, which is available in short and long wheelbase configurations, and then we have the Grand Wagoneer, which is the same thing but fancier. This is truly astonishingly dumb, but at least it will confuse consumers when they try to shell out five or six figures on a Jeep. That’s good, for complicated and meaningful reasons.

EV Triple Threat! Jeep Reveals Avenger, Recon and Wagoneer S

Jeep has whipped the wraps off three all-new electric SUVs as it bids to transform itself into the “leading electrified SUV brand in the world”. Let’s take a look at the new Avenger, Recon and Wagoneer S…

Like many automakers, Stellantis subsidiary Jeep has big plans when it comes to electrification. Those plans have been laid bare with the unveiling of three all-new battery-powered SUVs called the Avenger, Recon and Wagoneer S.

With these fully electric newcomers – as well as one more that has yet to break cover – the American marque plans to become what it terms “the leading electrified SUV brand in the world”.

The four SUVs are scheduled to hit the North American and European markets by the end of 2025. Once the curtains come down on 2030, Jeep wants half of its sales in the United States to comprise electric SUVs and all of its registrations in Europe to be battery-powered vehicles. Wondering where that leaves South Africa? Well, the company says “specific plans for other regions will be announced at a later date”.

“Driven by the success of our electrified 4xe portfolio in North America and Europe, we are designing and developing the most capable and sustainable Jeep SUVs to date, on our path to becoming the leading zero-emission SUV brand in the world,” says Christian Meunier, Jeep’s CEO.

“This is a forward-thinking strategy to help ensure millions of Jeep fans around the world continue to have a planet to explore, embrace and protect. Electrification is great for our brand, making it even more capable, exciting, sustainable and fun.”

Jeep previews its electric future by unveiling three brand new SUV models

Jeep, a US brand that you might associate with large, trail-crawling, gas-guzzling SUVs, has become the latest global automotive brand to nail its colours to the electrification mast.

The Stallantis-owned brand has just pulled the covers off three new all-electric SUVs, which come with the announcement that Jeep plans to offer a 100% electric line-up in Europe by 2030.

But it won’t be giving up entirely on ICE, as the company forecasts that EVs will account for 50% of its US sales by the end of the decade.

Jeep plans to launch four all-electric vehicles in global markets by 2025, including the new Recon, Wagoneer S and Avenger models you see here.

Jeep Avenger is electric baby SUV with up to 342 miles of range

New EV will be joined by three more electric cars in Europe by 2025 as Jeep pushes towards electrified future

Jeep will launch an electric entry-level SUV early next year – the smallest it has ever produced – and it will be followed by a further three EVs bound for Europe by 2025.

Called the Avenger, the baby electric Jeep will look to draw new customers to the US brand – now part of the giant Stellantis group – in Europe, with a particular focus on younger, female buyers.

Jeep Avenger

At the 2022 Paris Motor Show, the Jeep® Brand revealed the all-new Jeep Avenger, the brand's first-ever battery electric vehicle (BEV).

The compact Jeep Avenger spearheads the introduction of a portfolio of capable, fully electric vehicles right sized for Europe, and is a key component in a global electrification strategy as the brand moves towards becoming the world leader in zero-emission SUVs.

Designed and built as a Jeep vehicle from day one, the Avenger packs the Jeep DNA into a compact SUV with a unique combination of capability, style, functionality, and technology to satisfy the needs of ever-connected customers.

"The new Jeep Avenger represents a key milestone for the brand as it is the first of a portfolio of all-new Jeep BEVs to be introduced in Europe." said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO. "It offers Jeep brand capability that is rightsized for the European market and at the Paris Motor Show, we are showcasing why it is a great all-electric Jeep brand alternative to current players in the B-SUV segment."

Produced in the highly efficient Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland, the new Avenger is equipped with standard Selec-Terrain® and Hill Descent Control which, together with its outstanding approach and departure angles and the vehicle's ground clearance, bring impressive levels of capability into the segment.

In terms of electrification, the Jeep Avenger is equipped with a new generation 400 Volt electric propulsion system which combines a new electric motor and a new battery.

Electric Jeep Avenger delivers up to 550 km of battery-powered driving

Although it may seem a bit on the larger side of things, the new electric Jeep Avenger is actually smaller than the current Renegade. The company designed it specifically for the European market and apparently it is more capable than its bigger sibling. The car will go on sale next year and the order book is already open.

The new Jeep Avenger is based on Stellantis’ new version of its ECMP platform. The current version is used on electric and combustion versions of VAuxhall Mokka and DS 3 Crossback. The smallest Jeep will benefit from a high ground clearance, large trunk and apparently the best breakover and approach angles in the segment.

The car gets its energy from the 54 kWH battery pack designed and built by Stellantis. The official WLTP range is 400 km (249 miles) but the company claims that in urban driving conditions, the Avenger can deliver as much as 550 km or 342 miles. Both the battery and the electric motor use the new 400 V architecture which results in decent charging times - 20% to 80% SoC takes only 24 minutes when using 100 kW DC charger. Home charging at 11 kW AC takes 5.5 hours from 0 to 100%.

The long-range electric Avenger will be powered by a front mounted electric motor with 115 kW (156 HP) and 260 Nm of torque. The 4x4 version was supposed to be powered by two of those but Stellantis and Jeep did not confirm that in the official press release. According to that press release, the Avenger is a first front-wheel drive Jeep to be equipped with the full Selec-Terrain system and Hill Descent Control - no 4x4 version then?
