Stellantis reveals the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer REEV

For many people, the biggest worry about electric cars is running out of power, a concern often called "range anxiety." Jeep believes it has an answer for large SUV buyers who want to go electric but aren't ready to give up the security of gasoline.

The company has completely revamped its largest vehicle for the 2026 model year, combining the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer lines into a single, redesigned model that introduces a clever new powertrain. This new option is a range-extender, a type of vehicle that blurs the lines between traditional hybrids and fully electric cars.

The model, called the Grand Wagoneer REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle), is a series hybrid. This means its wheels are always turned by electric motors, providing the instant power and quiet ride of an EV. But it also carries a gasoline engine on board, with one very important difference: the engine never directly powers the wheels. Instead, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 acts only as a generator, creating electricity to recharge the battery pack when it gets low.

The performance numbers for the Grand Wagoneer REEV are impressive, making it the most powerful version of the vehicle ever offered. Jeep estimates the combined output from its electric motors will be 647 horsepower (482 kW) and 840 Nm of torque.

That much power allows the large, three-row SUV to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in five seconds flat. With its large 92 kWh battery and the V6 generator working together, Jeep projects a total driving range of over 805 km, significantly reducing the need for frequent stops at charging stations on long trips.
