Hey guys.

I'm just curious as to where the new numberings are at. The latest I've seen are those starting with CV, anyone seen anything after that.

I've seen quite a few interesting combinations.

Note: Probably not a good idea to put up anyone's full plate number for privacy reasons

Not yet. Got my new number last week. CVxxCV. Seem to be excluding heaps of letters. Have not seen CQ, CT or CU. Was hoping for DA :)

Me too... Mine is due this month and trying to time it right.😅

Also found out that the ones starting in A's were completely skipped.

I'm just guessing that since I don't travel that much the missing ones are elsewhere in the province

Just to prove me wrong, saw numerous CT's this morning, and a few CW's.

They still seem to be on CW if anyone is interested :cautious:

Looks like DA plates haven been skipped, seen a few DB's already. I wonder why:). A mate already has an aaxxMK and he's pissed.

I've seen some DC too. Though for some reason I feel like all the As were skipped. I haven't seen BA or CA either 🤷🏻‍♀️

You wont see any vowels on the KZN plates. Similar to how it is in Gauteng.
Also there wont be a sequence starting with A, E, I, O or U nor will they be used anywhere in the plates.... G is also reserved for Government plates

Wow... I had no idea but after paying closer attention I haven't seen any vowels. I feel like my mind has been substituting the numbers for alphabets and making words.

Is there a specific reason for this?

Also they seem to be on DF now

KZN drivers must switch to new number plates by December 1 or risk fines

KwaZulu-Natal drivers, this one's for you!

The KZN Department of Transport has issued a firm reminder that drivers must convert to the new numbering system as failure to comply may result in hefty fines.

According to the department, customers have until November 30, 2025 to migrate to the new system," Transport MEC, Siboniso Duma, told the Independent on Saturday.

The Mercury previously reported that the changes to the new licence numbering system are prompted by the fact that some of the towns have run out of numbers.

At the time of the campaign launch, then-KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube said the new numbering system would come with improved security features, which would assist in the fight against crime.

She added that this paradigm shift is important to ensure that KwaZulu-Natal is in alignment with other provinces and the national numbering system.
