Hi all,

If this is covered elsewhere, please send me a link....
Otherwise, I've got a new laptop with a normal 7200 rpm hdd which I'd like to replace with an SSD. The 320g hdd will become the storage hdd and the SSD will become the OS and frequently used app hdd.

So what are your recommendations?

I was looking at this PC Int
Intel X25-V Series - 80GB Solid State 2.5 SATA II Plus Drive - MLC Based - Performance Drive R 1,799 excl. R 2,050 incl.

are there better options out there?

Thanks

Not really. Get an Intel SSD if possible, 80gb or 160gb, and run Windows 7 with TRIM support.

can the laptop (unnamed) take two hdd's or are you investing in a hdd caddy?

Laptop details are here. Yeah I'll invest in one when i go overseas this year..

Lenovo ThinkPad W510 Series Notebook NTK29ZA (4062-6NG),
Intel Core i7 Series Quad i7-820QM 1.73Ghz 1333Mhz FSB 6MB L2 Cache,
8096MB DDR3-1066 SO-Dimm Memory (4x2048),
320GB SATA 7200rpm Hard Drive,
15.6" FULL HD LED Glossy (1920x1080 resolution)
TFT LCD Display,
Nvidia Quatro FX 880M with 1GB dedicated graphics,
DVD Writer DL optical drive,
802.11a/g/n wireless LAN,
10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN, 6 cell battery,
Bluetooth, intergrated 3G,
Webcam,
Fingerprint reader,
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition 64, 3 year carry in warranty

Thanks

So a hard drive caddy then, from what I can see. The Intel drives are good, certainly, so yeah, go for it.
