My mom's birthday is in a week and I thought I'd buy her a new laptop seeing as her Asus died a slow death.

She only uses a laptop to browse the web, facebook, email etc. What will be a decent machine to get her? One that will last her a while?

I saw the special at makro for R5000 for a lenovo G500, 4gig RAM, 1.9ghz intel processor and 500gig hdd. This laptop is bundles with Windows 8, Office 365, a microsoft mouse, headphones and a redbull sim with 200mb a month for 12 months.

Is it a good special or should I look at something else rather?

Thanks

That is wonderful that you buying your mom a laptop for her birthday and for R5 grand hopefully you will get something that is reliable for the next 3 Years or so.

When I purchase any notebook I do my homework and background check by using sites such as uprice.co.za or pricecheck.co.za, the notebook you want to purchase for R5 K is reasonable, but shopping around you might find better for the same price if you are lucky.

Windows 8, bundled with office 365 seems like a good price. Alone office can set you back R1000+, it's for your mom, she won't notice a difference , just a learning curv getting use to a new operating system.

Normally when Makro do have promotions on computer' hardware it is occasionally old stock, making room for a new model to be released, on that note you can never keep up-to-date with technology
