New laptop

If you are willing to take a look at Acer you should go see if Incredible Connection still has stock of this.

Acer Aspire 5750G

# 15.6-inch LED backlit display
# Powered by Intel latest Core i7 2630QM processor
# Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi,& Ethernet LAN connectivity options
# Turbo Boost 2.0 technology
# Pre-installed Windows 7 OS
# 4GB DDR3 RAM(Upgradeble to 8GB)
# NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics card
# NVIDIA Optimus technology
# 640GB HDD
# DVD RW
# USB 3 Port

It's selling for R12 000 but this month only if you trade in an old PC/Laptop you can get it for R9500. The PC/Laptop you trade in doesn't even need to work, they recycle it.

I'm very impressed so far with it, it's extremely fast.

Just know that this Laptop is affected by the Intel 6-Series problem but Acer already told me they would sort it out if the problem arrises. The Hard drive is not on an affected port so you won't lose any data even if the problem kicks in.

@HJF
Incredible's website says it's R8500 if you trade in...

he stated the notebook is for work. The Acer Aspire is a consumer notebook. its not built to the same levels of durability as business notebooks.

The dell looks pretty decent. The other players in that market segment is the HP 8540p Elitebook and the ASUS B53. Those are the biggest 3 in the SA market.

Remember with notebook, you get what you pay for, don't fall the the cheaper brand or cheaper models.

I'm not sure I agree with that, I have seen people have endless problems with Dell's whil other people had no issues with consumer notebooks.(Entry level Sony/Acer/HP) If you don't look after something properly it won't last no matter how expensive it is.

I'm always shocked to see how people handle notebooks, guess I'm just weird.

Thanks, price changed since I bought I guess. Will have to give them a call and find out if I can get R1000 credit since the add states it's valid for the whole of February.

Actually.... it's still within 7 days of purchase, if they don't give me the R1000 back I'll just return it and buy it again.

Eventually settled on Dell Latitude E6510, the machine is pretty impresive and I like the aluminium top...
